The Pine Produces Big Bucks

Wow, who knows whats going to happen once the fresh water starts clearing out a local creek, one you know pretty well. I've spoken to a few blokes and read a few posts and everyone has an opinion about the changes a big flush out would make. I love opinions, you can pick out all the bits that make sense and form your own, share that with people and they can pick bits out of it... ok bit philosophical.

Well my opinion for the Pine River in regards to muddies was that, because Mud Crabs seem to hate fresh water they would come out of all the little inlets and into deeper water (as fresh seems to sit on top) So with this in mind I set my pots deep and further out into the channel. Yesterday I took home 8 bucks, all well over legal, and today another two, (thanks to some blokes going through my pots in the middle of the night, at least when I was crabbing up north they'd leave a stubbie behind to say thanks!!!)

All in all a very good week of crabbing, tomorrow its out to see if my other opinions have any merrit :-)

Pics to come..

(Man it was nice to sit around with friends and family and hook into a big feed of fresh muddies)

Yeah that is my take on it when you get a bit of fresh as well.

Good to see your strategy paid off!
