Just been browsing through the catalogue for the auction tomorrow. Its being by Davlan and the catalogue is on their website.

There is a lot of boating accessories and top line fishing gear. Loomis and egrell and good shimano rods. Good reels Calcuttas, corvulus, twinpowers revos ( for Kevin) and] other top of the line stuff, lots of braid, lures , minnkotasm deep cycle batteries.1600 items starts 10 am ar sundowns premises.

Some multiple lots but lots of individual for rods and reels . Lures and soft plastics and braid seem to be in lots. Yoi isust have to wade through the catalogue.The auction has two lines the fittings etc in one and fishing gear in another. With a bit of luck the stuff at the end usually goes pretty cheap as most people have run out of steam by the end.probably will run at around 100 lots per hour so it will be a long day.

How long do these auctions go for? Most of the stuff I'm interested in is later in the day so I possibly get there after work

THey try to move along at around 100 lots per hour so auction has over 1000 lots. Auction 1 only has 300 so i would assume that the auctioneer for auction 1 will then take over part of auction 2.Otherwise auction 2 will go for 10 hours.They seem to like to wind things up by 3pm but who knows.In general the longer it goes the cheaper things at the end go for. Also pray for rain that will keep a few away.This one is a bit hard to predict as it is fairly rare and it will depend how many private buyers are there.The dealers will not bid over about 75% of their wholesale buying price so the selling prices will depend on how many private buyers are there.

Thought that I would go over and have a look at the auction this morning. Not having been to one before, I was intersted to see what went on, and maybe pick up a bargain or two that I didn't really need:blush: .

Arrived at 9.30 for a 10.00 start.

There were literally 100's of cars lining the surrounding roads & parked on the grass along the main drag.

Some people were walking for 500 meters+ in the pooring rain just to get from the car to the austion site, and then they were all trying to get into the sales floor and register.

There was so many people attending that they had hot food vendors in the car park to feed the masses.

Traffic was manic, so I turned around and went home.

Good luck to anyone who stuck it out, hope you got a bargain, but it looked too much like hard work to me:unsure:

Got a call from my mate who lives nearby, he went over at about lunch time and a mate of his told him a lot of stuff went for to much money. While he was there 25 vortex s/baits went for$110 thats not bad. He also said there was no warranties on anything.

all the "wanted" popular items would have been sold for only minimal discount IMO. The not so popular stuff would have been the bargain

my dad went there and said all the stuff was getting sold for around retail and some over

my mate just bought a shimano Aspire 1000 for $250. Thats almost $200 saving on retail.

but heaps of items are being sold at around 20% off the retail prices

Dino, manufacturers warranty should still stand, it usually does for new stuff auctioned off.

I thought about going, as I had a blinder of a headache this morning and could not face work. But still not good enough by starting time so did not bother.

But as soon as I saw thew horses I would have walked! I hate queueing, or being in large crowds, regardless of the possible bargains!

Sounds good did items get cheaper towards the end?You sometimes can strike it lucky and get a loomis a bit cheaper but egrells are impossible.
