well my self and mrs jimmybob hit up the barra park on monday just gone and had a blast!...this is the first time i have fished the park in the warmer months...and the place is under new managment and they have stocked the place big time!...barra everywhere...in only a few hours we landed 13 barra and lost many many big boys in the "big boys pond"...pellets were the go but after flicking all sorts of lures the only one that came up trumps was a strike king buzzbait...we both had a awesome day and had many laughs at the bustups:laugh: ...talkin to dave"the fella runnin the place" he was saying i would notice the difference in the amunt of barra now in the ponds..and he was right..it fished so well..we had to leave them biting:huh:

and i mentioned gettin a massive AFO crew up there for a in house comp...hes keen and im sure there would be heaps of us that would love to head up there for a freindly comp and a bbq...pics to follow

Yep, I might even have to have a AFO Barra day pre fish. I have one of those Megabass lures Kev got 18 barra on now so hopefully it'll work for me too.

Just out of interest Jimmybob some people have said you need to fish really light to get any enjoyment out of that place. How did you find it for sport and what sort of gear were you running?

Thanks for the pics they're great:)

Ha ha yeah everyone says you have to fish lite but Kev was using 20lb leader. Was probably just a fluke though. Probably more fun on light gear though.:P

Shortie reckons they don't go that hard compared to Awoonga barra, having caught wild ones and the farm ones do you reckon there's much of a difference?

Well done Jimmy you kicked arse. Kev whats the name of the lure

I'll answer for him in case his misses Dino. It's a megabass X80. Can only really get em on Ebay and they're worth about $45 but you can get em for $25-$30

I've got 2:laugh: But one's the prop darter and one's the sinker.

for anyone who wanna know about those megabass lures, just drop me a pm. i import them from USA and japan regularly( a bit too much this month....lol). so if anyone want some, just let me know so that i can order them for you. those lures range from 35 to 45aud here and i usually get them around 20 shipped so it's not a total disaster to lose a few. cheers

none of the 18 barra i got in the park could get a inch of line out of my reel so it's definitely more fun to target them with a Ultralight combo.

yeah you know about it when you get a 90cm one in the mixed species pond on microlight 1-2kg gear nearly spooled me twice:laugh:
