the seller must pay a final value fee based on the final bid. the postage's not included in the total that the FVF bases on. so some seller will mark a very high postage and low start bid to avoid paying too much to ebay.

as well, if anything happens( something wrong with the reel), the refund does not contain postage so he will only refund the amount u bide. in this case, he'll save a lot when refunding.

maybe the seller don't want this item to be sold to AU so the domestic postage can be farily cheap( 15-20) but he put a high postage to AU so that only US guys will bid on it.

Yeah, I just checked and for in the US at a post code of 10000, the cost is only $10.52
