Wivenhoe Wonders

Went for a drive up into the Brisbane valley for a look around, finished up near Billies Bay where we had a few casts for just over a hour. It was after 4pm and the clouds were not looking very freindly. On my 3rd cast I was hit solid as it was sinking,I thought you ripper, only to drag in a dirty big forkie. Then a few moments later the mate yells get the camera, I said why its probably another cattie but no it was a nice 45cm bass a new pb for him. On his very next cast he upped his PB by 10cm and draged in a nice 55cm bass. Do you think he was happy or what. He never stopped thanking all the way home for getting him out of the house and teaching him to fish. After this effort I managed a 48cm bass, followed by a 40cm bass and the mate got a cattie. So in just over a hour we got a 55cm-48cm-45cm-40cm and 2 catties. I'll BE BACK.

Vortex purple glimer s/baits were the winner followed by Vortex purple nightmare. It was good to be able to let it sink to the bottom before the retreive, after fishing NPD

in the grass for so long.

Fish while you can

Nice work Dino! Looks like there is good access down to the bank there as well. I wanted to get my canoe to Logan's Inet over the weekend, but it wasn't to be! Those pics have made me even more determined now though!

Hey what was the sumerged grass situation like though? I was fishing for catties at the info centre 2 months back, and there was a think line of grass and shrubs from the bank to about 5m out. Hopefully it has died off a bit now.

Well dine dennis.

You need a sip for all fishing there and a permoit from SEQ water or whatever they call it now if your boat is trailable . Id if you take it up as a cartopper its free if you use a trailer permit is required.

I had a look at the ramp at Logans inlet on sunday morning and it is useable but looks shallow for a fair while before you get to fishable water. There was one trailer in car park and a couple of other cars that looked like they had yaks or canoes out.

Cheers

Ray

Ray it cost me $60 to join sailing club then it will be $30 to renew each year. Plus as you said if your boat is on a trailer its $100 for the year and #70 to renew each year. If you pay this when you join the sailing club it only covers Wivenhoe but if you pay it at the Info Center near the dam wall it is for both dams. So I was out of pocket $160 yesterday.

Booty sailing and fishing at the same time......good luck

Stu to late all signed up

Andrew you have nice mates he who shares wins tell JB I said thanks

No permit required if under 18

Who needs a permit?

Any person aged 18 or over fishing in any of the 30 SIPS dams (listed in the table below) needs a permit. The scheme only applies to people using a fishing line or set line. Permits are issued to an individual but also cover the person's spouse if the spouse is nominated on the permit. People under 18 do not need a permit.

Sounds like they probably could be seeing as Dino is 'destroying' all the fish in sight everytime he puts a line in the water. More and more of me wants to take the plunge and meet him there one day and have a bash at some bass.

Speaking of WMD's. I saw the best set of 'weapons of mass distraction' the other day, but my GF saw me looking too and that quickly converted it into a little destruction!!
