Fishing in NSW (inparticular wollongong)

Hey im going for a little holiday on thursday down to wollongong on the coast of nsw to visit family. So preety much its either fishing, watching tv on my grandads plasma or surfing and plan to do a bit of each. So if anybody knows any spots in wollongong or near by would be great if you could help me out. i was planning to do some surf fishing but cant figure out how i would get my 1 piece surf rod on the plane. so the biggest rod i could take would be 7ft. but anyway. so any suggestions would be a great help.
