This comes from the time when I was working for the PMG on Longreach. On a Friday afternoon we used to go around the town lifting the cable pit lids looking for brown frogs to use for yellowbelly bait. Quite often we would encounter a black snake in the pit and capture it and keep it in a bag.

The police station was across the back lane way from the post office and we used to empty the bag over the galvanised iron fence.

After doing this for around 2 months the headline of the weekly Longreach Leader came out with the headline " Snake Plague at Police Station"

Still gives me a good laugh thinking about it.

Thanks to all for kind thoughts and Ellicat I can now laugh about losing keys.

Thanks to Angus and John for their vision in establishing this site and all the members for their contributions which make the site a great place to belong to.

If you cant get a smile out of life or help others the world would be a miserable place.
