would it be possible to have the computer make some sort of alert tone when you get a new pm

the alert box is good if you are looking at the screen

but people are not always looking at the screen or are flicking between sites and take forever to notice that they have a pm even when they are online

I reckon you will find this is harder to do than you expect it is.

I dont even know if phpbb software can handle sound at all.

Jeff. If you use outlook express as your email program. Leave it running in the background. Set the setting for checking email to every 5 minutes. When BFo sends you an email letting you know a pm has arrived it goes (Boing).

Problem solved.

Everytime i get a pm i also get sent an email letting me know i have a new pm.

This setting is in your profile tick the notify me button.

Then set outlook express to check your email every 5 minutes. And it beeps when an email arrives. look at your email see that it is from BFo and check your PM's

i dont use outlook but i always have hotmail running and it makes a noise too
