what sort of gear do they have available if any? as me and dad only really have bottom bouncing overheads for bait and one 3500 baitrunner that might stop a tuna

also have some snapper on plastics gear aswell

As much as I'd love to go, unfortunately I'm in the same situation as Terry here. Exams and money, one of which i have too many of, and the other, not enough. Oh well at least it will have plenty of time to save up for the winter camp! :cheer:

I'm sure both these charters will be great days and can't wait to see the reports.

Cheers,

Ok spoke to Danny.

At the moment they have been catching big kingies, samsonfish and snapper offshore. Thats where we will most likely head first.

Then move in a bit closer for specifically snapper. Woot.

The boat will leave at 5:30am and be back about 3:00pm.

Cheers.

Oh and tacklebox, we will be using livies, dead bait and plastics if you want. Plastics will suit the closer reefs a bit better. Ill be using Strike King X-TOO's for sure!

Hey guys.

The trip on the 1st is now booked out.

There are still 3 spots for the 15th.

I can always book more if we get a good rush or these 2 turn out tops!

Hi Angus.

I would like to come out fishing on the 15. if there still is space on the boat.

Having never been out in the bay I would like to know:

1. LOCATION - Where do I meet up ?

2. Do they have gear I can borrow ?

3. If bringing my own gear, what do I need to bring

Rod - length, style, rating

Line and Leader - Mono, spun, kilo

Bait - Live/Dead, Plastics, Hard body, Size

Reel - Overhead or Spinning

4. Will there be bait on board

4. How do I pay ? (prefer either cash on the day or bank transfer)

Sorry for all the questions

Mate not a problem.

I need to get this up for the others as well :)

1. We will leave out of Manly harbour.

2. They do have gear. If you want to bring your own, id reccomend a pretty decent rig for teh deeper reefs and TLD25 or something like that with a stiff rod as the lead will be pretty big. And for the shallower stuff ill be using a 4000 size Freams Kix reel with a 10kg rod. But their gear by all account is quality.

3. Bait will be provided for those using bait.

4. Payment: I (AFO) have already fixed it up. So ill ask everyone to pay the AFO account directly. I will post the bank details soon.

Cheers.

I am keen as mustard, book me in please Angus.....

Does anyone come along who lives on the Redcliffe Peninsula ????

I have never been to Manly and wouldn't like to drive myself.

Excellent, I'm looking forward to meeting you guys and hopefully catch my first reef fish too.

If anyone is driving to Manly from around the Redcliffe Peninsula and have space for some Euro Trash, I would love a lift......

Cheers guys

Carsten I would mate but Im coming from a totally different direction.

Sorry!

At least being that it will be an early start the roads will be empty :)

carsten, if you have a car it is easy as from redcliffe. jump on the gateway, over the bridge, take the manly rd exit. then follow the signs to manly, it's pretty much straight ahead along the main road. can't miss the marina once you get there.

I'll be bringing a 6500 baitrunner reel with 50lb braid and a 24kg rod. Maybe a smaller reel and lighter rod for the shallower stuff. Are u guys gonna be using lures, plastics, jigs?

Cheers Benno.

Sounds easy, I'll do that if no one else is going from up here, no worries.

Just reading up on the fish mentioned in this thread, damn am I looking forward to this.

These fish are massive, what size are they taken in the bay ?

I was thinking about buying a boat rod for the trip, any sugestions?

Angus was suggesting a 10 kilo rod, is this for the lighter stuff ?

What lenght should I be aiming for, 5-7" ?

I have a red ABU 7000 overhead, one of the classics, would that be good with a 10 kilo rod ?

What are people bringing for the larger stuff ?

Any good advise on rigs/leaders/hook size ?

easiest and cheapest advice is to use their gear which will be set up to be easy to use and effective. i will be using their gear on the deeper reefs. if you hook up on an amberjack of yellowtail kingie you'd know all about it. they go pretty bloody hard.

This is all getting a bit exciting :woohoo: , sometimes there seems too much to do and not enough $$$ in the back pocket :( . I was sooo keen to go on the kayak trip last weekend but opted for the Bay tour instead, can't wait.

I'll be looking long and hard at the next kayak trip - never been on one and am pretty interested  .
