     What is wrong with me? i've been out fishing everyday since saturday and i cant even catch a stinking freakin catfish!!

Went to the pine on saturday for 4 hrs and caught 1 toadfish, Sunday went to nudgee creek and caught 2 toadfish, Monday went to boggy creek and caught sfa, and today went down the road and fished the brissie river also sfa not even a catfish:angry:

Im using sp's which im hopeless at anyway only ever caught 1 fish on Them in 3 yrs aswell as mullet fillets prawns and squid.

IM going on a houseboat in 3 weeks time with my mates and i always outfish them:) but this year is looking very bad for me. my form slump is so bad right now i think i've forgotten how to catch a fish:(

Anyway i'll probably head down to the river at 17 mile rocks again this week to continue the pain, if anyone is keen to join me feel free to i know theres a few guys who live close by and maybe they can teach me how to fish:)

Cheers, troy

mate, start with the dead basics... a prawn/squid/eg on a whiting hook will catch you a catfish anywhere in the river. try out closer to the mouth maybe?? there are plenty of places, colmslie, pinkenba, whyte island etc. even a stingray would help you start to get your mojo back... they are everywhere. i hate it when i have patches like this too, feel your pain mate. if all else fails, just go to the pub instead.

Oh well maybe next time;)

When I get another boat, I'll take you out for some big fish. But in the meantime keep plugging away. We all have rough patches.

Yeah it does suck big time:) I Went back to basics this arvo using peeled prawns and a fairly small hook but not even a touch which was strange. Maybe the tide had something to do with it there was no run at all as it was a very small high tide

you're not alone mate, the last 2-3 weeks, I haven't caught a single decent fish, only managed to get a large toadie and that was it for about 10 sessions landbased. I'm getting pissed myself, but i think the river is just cooling off a little...

I feel your pain Troy.

I'm having a down patch and what makes it worse the girlfriend is out-fishing me every time I go out.

We've got to persevere, and soon enough the mojo is back and the fish will be thick around us.

Good luck!

Wow mate, your getting heaps of encouragment, I might take this home and show my wife, "See honey blokes can be sensitive too!" haha.. Its like anything though, these times are good, they help us question our fishing and work at the skill.. You'll come out of it a better fisherman mate..

What size leader are you using? Sounds like you're doing the right thing with the peeled prawns so maybe downsizing your leader and changing to a smaller hook may be the go. Your guaranteed a few bream by fishing of the pinkenba boat ramp with unweighted peeled prawns if nothing else.

i usually have a size 2 ball sinker with about 1 40cm trace with a size 8 long shank. I've used this setup for years and its always produced the goods it was only last year when i was pulling in 35cm+ bream one after another at the pin.

fishing is fishing for the sake of fishing

actually catching fish is a bonus

Your right jeff, there is nothing better then sitting down with a rod in one hand a beer in the other and listening to the footy:) and i'll be doing that in a few weeks time at the pin
