Roof Racks for Profish

Hi all

Just wondering if standard roof racks on a Falcon will do? It just seems to be a lot of Kayak over the front.

I'm hoping I don't have to tie the front down as there is nowhere to tie it to. A rack off the towbar up to the rear of the boat may be an option. I ask for your opinions and experiences maybe even photos.

If they are rated to carry more than what the profish weighs, they'll be fine. You just need to fine the point where it is balanced on the roof racks. To test, pull down on the kayak's bow, then push up on it. If the same amount of force is needed to do this, it is balanced:cheer:

I'll take a few pics before we go out this arvo of how we tie our kayaks down.

i have a company car falcon wagon with rhino roof racks and they would have to be some of the toughest racks ive ever had, I carry 2 profish yaks on them all the time and ive had at least 120 kgs on them with work crap!

Malcolm they should be fine mate.

With a kayak as long as a profish there will always be a bit overhanging somewhere

mate I made a rack for the towbar on my brumby, I prototyped it out of PVC bits in a T shape ( used hardwood dowel inside for strength, this slid inside a cut down bike-rack. Worked really well, if you're good with steel should be easy as to knock one up.

here you go malcom as you can see the kayaks hang over a bit but with sturdy roof racks they stay put. The car's a subaru liberty by the way so i don't know how similar the roofs will be but it might help.
