From a boat - freshwater - as slow as you can go.

From a boat - Marlin - no idea and you will have forgotten by next season anyway:P  (Have heard 8-12 knots for Tuna though)

From a yak - Marlin - as fast as you can peddle or paddle (safer without a line in the water though:woohoo:

 )

bass 1-2kts

mackeral 6-8

tuna 6-10

marlin lures 8-12. livebait 6-10. skip baits 10-12.

alot depends on what speed the lures you are trolling work best at

pushers and sprockets etc work better at a lower speed

while smokers and jetheads etc are best worked fast

With bass start off as slow as you can and vary your troll speed to see what they want on the day some times a quick exceleration then slow back down can cause a strike but say when trolling plastics ,spinnerbaits use electric and go slow to get them down deep but that also depends on where the bass are sitting in the water column
