I'm giving it a go:). They can't really spam too much with those details

Yeah like I ever bother to answer my landline - despite having been on the so called "no call register" since the day they introduced it, the phone still rings a dozen times a night with telescum.

One of the mobs was handing out 6 packs of free light bulbs at the local shopping centre when the power went up 10% (you know, when they bought in competition to drive down prices).

Not yet. Wouldn't expect it quickly though. They're giving away 10,000 of them - that's a lot of recycled paper envelopes to lick:laugh:, and surely they'll be delivering them on an environmentally friendly push-bike

There is always a sinic. Im expecting mine via email very soon.;)

Nope.... Havent got mine yet.

Been waiting on quite a bit of mail order stuff lately ;-)

I wouldn't normally talk to you on an Origin night Greg, but I went to the Camping show on the weekend and had a quick look at those round cooking plates you bought. Didn't think they were worth the $$ to be honest. So I'll be keen to get an update from you in 2018.

I did buy one of those Fire-starter sticks though. Great fun:woohoo:

I'm sure my burnt finger will heal soon:unsure:

EDIT :P to shortie

I recently signed up with origin and they gave us free energy saving lightbulbs and a water saving showerhead....

adri4n did you actually receive your bulbs? I'm pretty sure that's the mob we signed up with and they never arrived...

By the way everyone, if you break one of these bulbs, you are supposed to open up the room to air and get out due to the gaseous mercury content:blink:

Crikey is that true Feral! What are we supposed to do for disposal? Put them in the teleporter:P

by the way here is the link I was referring too: http://www.choice.com.au/viewArticle.aspx?id=105895&catId=100285&tid=100008&p=3&title=Compact+fluorescent+lightbulbs

CFLs contain a small of amount of mercury, a toxic metal that can affect our brain and organs, causing symptoms such as memory loss, trembling hands and difficulty moving. However, the amount they contain is minute  about a fifth the amount that’s in a watch battery, some even less. In a CFL bulb the mercury exists in gaseous form, sealed within the glass tubing and poses no danger in normal use.

But take care when removing a bulb from the packaging and always grab it by the base for installation, not by the glass.

Also be careful when a bulb breaks. Open windows to let vapours disperse, put on cleaning gloves and sweep and/or wipe the mess away with a damp paper towel. Don’t vacuum up the phosphor powder and glass fragments. Put the waste and paper towel in a sealed plastic bag.

Check with your local council or state government whether CFLs are part of a hazardous waste collection, or ask CFL retailers  some take them back for recycling. As a last resort, dispose of them in a sealed bag with your garbage.

When CFLs are dumped in landfills, mercury can pollute the air, soil and waterways and collect in organisms and food chains. That’s why recycling is the much preferred option. But Australia lags behind New Zealand, the European Union and many states in the US, where recycling of CFLs is mandatory or retailers are required to collect them for recycling. The Total Environment Centre supports this, saying, “We need producers to take responsibility (physical and financial) for their collection and recycling.â€Â

Ah, I just found out why. On the site it says The energy saving light bulbs draw will be conducted on the 1st August 2008

http://www.greenenergywatch.com.au/freelightbulbs.php

So not everyone who registers will get them, just like a lotto

Reminded of this scam today.

Looks like they changed the "conditions" from being a lottery to being for "Victorian Residents Only"

Highly unusual for a Greens idea not to have been thought through from the start  (sarcasm of course)

Yeh,

But this deal was victoria residents only :P

So I thought i'd just make a waste of a joke on it.

I don't understand your first reply, but to make my point clearer for you - The website did not originally advertise that it was for Victorian Residents only. i.e. at the time this thread started and we all lined up for a light bulb.
