what type of cattie?

hey guys,

what type of catfish is this? is it just a common garden variety or does it have a name. all i know is it measured approx 95cm, measured in the water with a ruler so not accurate and fought long and hard on 14lb line, you could imagine my disappointment when i sore it was a dirty old catfish.

yeah its a catfish they get alot bigger than that too

Its got a nicer tail than most i see up in the brisbane river. Where was it caught?

haha i know how you feel, first time i caught one of those i got pretty excited then i was very disappointed. Whatever you do, dont bring them on board cos the slime on them stinks like crap. Caught near muddy?

it and its mate where caught on the eastern side of mud island today.

Looking in the grants guide to fishes it is a blue catfish

yeh the eastern side of mud always has some of those around. They kind of look like a tailor or mackeral at first but as they get closer you can see them for what they really are.

blue cattie, cool. geez they go hard tho, probably weighted upwards of 10kg.

might have been a salmon catfish. Look very similar and normally found further North.

What depth? What bait?

hey yellow, it was in about 6m of water and was using grinner fillets as bait.
