Just fished the mouth of the canal in runaway bay and when I turned up noticed heaps of big mullet fleeing from something big. Tied on a 3 inch gulp minnow and flicked it out for a while then I had a big hit and then ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ...........spooled on 2lb braid.

I am calling it for a GT did you even make any ground on it or was it just non stop. Also how far up it the water did it hit the lure.

Just got some 4lb and am going to hit the spot up again on monday night. The run was long runs with big head shakes and it was thrashing around on the surface at one stage. I reckon a really big flat head or a barracuda considering I was fishing landbased and along a drop off with bordering weed beds. Hopefully I will have a good report tomorrow night.

how much line did you have on your spool?

Anymore than about 75m i reckon you could rule out flathead of any size. your suggestion of a decent barracuda sounds pretty likley or even a big giant herring as i think a GT would have found structure pretty early in the fight.
