VHF Radio's

Most would know this :woohoo:

but for those who don't : If you have a VHF radio installed on your boat and no one on board has a licenced to use it! You can incure a $225 on the spot fine

For those in the unlicenced group like myself who have a vhs onboard

Fit a dummy switch that disables it untill you get your Licence ( can be switched to use if required) so if asked nah mate never worked ;)

Maybe AFO could get a group discount from one of the licenceing mobs if enough interest is shown ?

or better still we all join the coastguard as associate members for $55 a year and I think the coarse if free :woohoo: or alot ;) cheaper not to mention u get free towing / great support as a member and it would look good on AFO " AFO Proud Members of the QVCA :woohoo:

Cheers Gaz

If you think you need a radio, even if only for emergency, then bothering to get the licence is well worth it IMO. The course is full of good info.

Joining the Coast guard is not on my list due to where I take my tub, but VMR is.

If you intend to take yours well offshore then the Coastguard is the way to go Gaz.

(PS - wouldn't bother if I was you either Feral)
