Finally back online so I thought I would put up a report from the fishing I have been doing over the past week.

Fished both wed & fri morn from 4-7 for some good results out of currumbin creek and the coomera river. Managed about 10 bream and a few others in between. Finally had some success with bream on hb's mainly fishing rapala countdowns much the same as sp's but with better hook ups.

i think that is a rock cod (don't know if correct name or not) all i know is we caught a heap off iluka a few years ago and they were an absolute b@st@rd to clean. bloody old timers we went out with kept everything

the first fish is called "Kasago" (Japanese rock fish), relative to cod but its the first time i saw it in Australia too

Thanks Jeryl. Was a bit of a weird fish and it fought real well on 4 pound. I thought it may be a scorpion fish of sorts.

they call those red rock cod a poor mans lobster.. and they taste great, just gotta watch the spikes when handling them, ill keep a big one for a feed but not the little ones ....

You catch a lot of them in 20m+ water offshore but they feel like pulling up a plastic bag when they open there mouths in the current. I'm suprised that you caught one in an estuary! how did it fight in the shallow water, much like an estuary cod? Good fish mate keep it up:)

thats the first time i have ever heard of or seen a red rock cod caught in a esturay..weird!...another tick off the list thou;)
