Hammerhead Shark

Ok, went out today in moreton bay we were targeting mackeral... got bored and i was like yeh may as well had some pike eel i caught the night before set up a shark rig no steel trace.... 5 mins later bang on... no no no snapped off, alright i was ready to catch this 50lb line 100lb leader 100 steel trace, good too go. in goes the line give it 10 or so bang and this time i am on after alot of fighting it surfaces beside the boat. At least 6ft maybe even bigger. we wanted too land this, had a few more runs. ok now it was beside the boat looked tired we were about to get it and bang off he goes again, took half my spool which is around 250yards of line with an almost locked drag (33lbs locked) i just coudent hold onto the rod anymore, gave it too my mate and unfortunatly it snapped off.

Never the less very fun and pictures were taken when surfacing beside the boat. (Well put them up as soon as i get them sent to me)

and the moral of the story is...don't fall in cause they can swim much faster than you:huh: :laugh:

unlucky mate but how good do those hammer heads fight ... the biggest i have ever caught was around 1.2 meters and on 20lb line it was awesome.

boofa: i doubt it, i heard that they are no good to eat over 1.5m, could be wrong.
