    Hi Ho Silver And Away.

Went for my last session for a couple of months, as I am back in hospital monday for a new left knee this time.Found it very hard on lures and had to use some shrimp. I was glad I did as I picked up a nice fat 44cm silver perch. For a fish that size it had to be stocked before 2008 as apart from 2017 that was the last silver stocking. Luke came along to hold my hand and to make sure I got no scratches, or no op. Oh and thats my hanky hanging out from under my hat as I forgot my neck sock mask. Dino

Getting Excited now, the Initial work done at Quintrex, pick up from Factory and delivery to Dealer Monday afternoon. Will be going to check where all the extras are going to be fitted at Dealers. That will be nearly a week and then to Advance Canvas for its Travel/Storage Cover. Will be another few days. But hopefully we are getting near.Should go well with the High Thrust 60hp Yamaha behind the 440 Side Console Hornet Trophy. No fancy paint jobs, just your basic white with a few standard stripes. They could not fit fuel filler on Port side and gone for full length of floor for Lockable Rod Locker.Hopefully have thought of what I need fitted up front.

    Boat

This looks like another one that might be worth considering if your in the market for a new boat. As with my previous posts about boats, not recommending it, never seen it, just posting it for members info. cheers Greg https://gandlb.com.au/boat/244228/tournament-2100-walk-around-2013-my/

    Trolling Rod For Moreton Bay

M10 rod. Garry Howard has a nice 10-15kg offshore. I have two. 15yrs old and still tough as nails. Replaced tips due to "I'm a rough punt". I have a TLD30 on one and a torium 30 on the other. TLD is a winch. I dont stuff around with little line. 80lb braid 500m wound on top of 50lb mono approx 150m. Built like a brick outhouse. Great trolling stick. Nice forgiving tip so it doesnt bounce your lures out of the water and its a great bottom slogger. Standard drag system is tough as nails. I've abused mine with who's and Spanish, big reefies, no dram's. Loves it. It's that tough that when I get a snag bottom bashing, I can wind the earth around under me. Service regularly and lube the drag with good grease it will last you forever. Torium is okay but star drag went out in the 1900's. I wouldn't buy another star drag with all the new levers available. I only got it for the 6.2:1 ratio. Nice and quick back up to the surface if the pickers are hassling you. You could use it for jigging to but thats to much hard work imo. Trolling is okay but setting strike drag on star drag reels sucks. Cause you have to tighten while winding etc and you just can't get the pressure out of star drags like you do with levers. The lever is just soooo much easier all round. You can get good lever drag overheads from shimano and diawa. Don't touch anything else unless it's boutique like Avet or something. All those cheap shyte "Big store" overhead reels are terrible. Stay away from them. You will mash the guts of it on any decent size fish.

Just beware of any green zones in this area particularly and remember just because it looks pretty on the outside doesn't mean it isn't poisonous...

Well it's that time of year again (woohoo) with the Nines comp starting tomorrow, then the trial games, All Stars game, World Club Challenge and Charity Shield. Round 1 of the comp is on Thursday 12 March. Tipping comp is setup and all of last years competitors should have received an email invite today. If you weren't in it last year and would like to be part of it just PM me your email address and I will invite you in and send you the secret number. Good luck and I hope everyone's team goes well this year except those teams that don't have a tiger emblem....

    Airlie Or Bust Up.

hey mate, i went up there years ago with next to no gear and even less of an idea. found plenty of action with mackeral and trevally around some of the mainland headlands (I was landbased and did a lot of bush bashing to get to places), that was just throwing metals around. I dropped some baits in around bommies and only got smaller reefies but being right in against the mainland i wasn't really expecting much. fisheries are quite active up there so just watch the zoning plan. i would look for headlands/edges with good current pushing past and troll around them as a starting point. hope you have a good trip mate.

    Trolling Rod For Moreton Bay

Ha. Most likely bad angling! You don’t tend to break the line but more pull the hooks out especially If the fish aren’t hooked well or have soft mouths. Big single hooks on lures might be ok with braid. Just remember this is just my opinion! Need to try and see what works for you

    Trolling Rod For Moreton Bay

10kg is perfect for school mackerel in the bay. I prefer a bit heavier offshore in case a longtail or Spanish likes the look of your lure! 30-50lb mono for mine but totally up to the individual.

    Airlie Or Bust Up.

Not sure how far you are willing to travel from Airlie but there is a great bommie which breaks on low tide a couple of hundred metres off the eastern edge of Deloraine Island. Huge trevally, mackerel etc inhabit the area. Beware though, the current races past the bommie at times. Even if you don’t catch a feed a trip to Deloraine is worth just for the beauty and remoteness of the place. cheers Greg

Thanks Junky. Some good info there. I already have some lever drag overheads in my kit bag. And I’m totally with you on jigging being too much like hard bloody work! I actually just bought a trolling board after reading an article Hamish mentioned so got to figure that out now. Lol

    Airlie Or Bust Up.

The amount of times I've been fishing at airlie. The main street holds plenty of beautiful species, no need to take boat. However landing them can be sometimes difficult and other times it's double hookups all round. Very seasonal. Best bait I used was pineapple cruisers. The fish up there love cruisers.
