  1. Another hard day at the eastern arm with Rick and Joy .weather was perfect ,the bass were hungry but they were all under 34cm. Total catch 40 bass, 26 to Joy,12 to me and balance to Rick we had to leave Joy to top score as it is her birthday.STG006541.xls
  2. Took a while to find some fish this morning with only 3 fish boated by 9am after a 6am launch. We finally found some quality fish in 36 feet of water down near the old far marker. . Final tally 31 bass with my best bass going 46.5 cm and plenty of fatties. Only 2 boats on the water this morning and the other boat caught 44 bass so the fish are there if you look for them. Still unable to download photos.

  4. Tiddler day at Hinze eastern arm today. Of the first 10 fish that I caught and measured only 4 were legal . Hai caught the largest at 360mm. I recaptured one tagged fish that was not in the suntag database, Total tally of 43 bass all on live shrimp. oops cannot upload photos.
  5. My battered and bruised fat gut from rod butt, Medication side effect can cause slight bruising.
  6. We went to pick up our new yearly permits this morning and naturally had to have a fish first, After doing our shrimp pots the fish were scattered but a good size. Hai was happy with a 49cm ( Could have cheated and squeezed the tail to make it a 50) We finally found a good school in 60 feet of water near Fad 0 at 10.30 am but had to leave them at 10.45 to get back to the ramp to pick up our permits by 12 noon. Final tally was only 26 bass but great to get multiple fish over 45cm.

  11. is that a tag in the last one? Seems to be a strange angle. Some good fish there.
  12. Another hard day braving the wind and cold for 60 bass and one tandanus. Shrimp were very scarce it did not make any difference where the pots were located in deep, shallow near rocks or in weed beds. Bass were scattered with a lot of fish under 30cm.
  13. Hai,Rick and myself ended up with 103 bass and 2 tandans this morning. Started off with the umbrellas up in light drizzle and fish small and hard to find. With the tally at 30 bass and the largest around 33cm we were picking up a few in the same spot as last week when Rick suggested we move to a tree on the edge of the tree line. We moved from 20ft to 30 ft and struck gold and increased the size and the numbers landing 70 odd bass in the next 3 hours. The majority of these fish were between 35 and 45cm and in full roe and went hard,
  14. Good morning at the western arm this morning with 61 bass between the 4 of us.We did not have many shrimp to start off with and the second spot we tried the bass were a good size and hungry until we ran out of bait so we then went and checked our shrimp pots for a meagre result. We then went further upstream for just a few scattered fish but they were good quality with plenty of fish over the 40cm mark and only about 6 under 30cm. Water is starting to clear. All fish caught on live shrimp and we left the eagle hungry with only 2 barred grunter caught. Bit of a social day running into old mate Daz and his wife Karen for a chat. Daz had a garmin 80 lb on the bow and it was faultless not moving off station using the spot lock whilst my Kota was moving around on its 5 ft radius. Our next visitors were the rangers for another 15 minute chin wag. When we got back to the ramp the rangers were doing a mobile patrol in there ute checking up that the people in the car park and picnic area were doing the right thing. Cheers Ray

  20. Water visibility in hinze usually 10 to 12 feet now 3ft to 4 ft dam seems to have rolled. I have only restarted tagging after a 4 year break but still get returns from 10 years ago.
  21. May have full crew next thurs if spot avail will be going western arm or npd.
  22. Good day at the eastern arm today launched at dawn to glass out conditions till around 11 when the breeze sprung up. The fish went off the chew around then so we knocked off with a tally of 54 bass and one tandan. few on the flats opposite the water tower and the rest upstream in different spots. All tagged and released except a 170mm one that was too small to tag. Water quality decreased the furthur upstream we went. Decky spot avail sunday no smoking no bananas.
  23. Another hard day with the fish scattered and in small schools. Between the 4 of us we only boated 24 bass with only around 4 being legal size. Beautiful glass out till around 11am. Going by what a couple of the bass regurgated they were feeding on small bait fish. Bit of fun at the ramp when we returned when the brand new electric winch self destroyed with the boat half way up the trailer and the boat relaunched., Fortunately I have a manual back up winch on the winch post above the leccy. The handle for the winch was in the bow of the boat so we used the ratchet and socket from my socket set that I keep in the boot. It was hard going for Mark as the winch was very rusty and stiff glad it wasnt me. Cheers Ray
  24. Poor day today at the western arm. The dam seems to have rolled over with visibility down to about 4 feet. When we did our shrimp traps apart from having to relocate a couple the pots were either empty of most of the shrimp were dead. We only got 20 live shrimp from 12 pots fortunately we still had a about 12 shrimp left over from out trip to the eastern arm last week. We had to work hard to get 19 bass with the largest going 39cm. I got another stumpy. Cheers Ray
