First legal Jew is definitely a milestone Brian congratulations. The port of brissy is where I finally cracked my first jewy also. It’s a great spot for those that put in the work!!
-
Nice work mate was that around brissy?
-
Pretty sure there’s a size limit on your font. All jokes aside like Hamish said stick to a cast net. Traps similar to your one are only used for bait collection in fresh water.
-
Love your work mark I’m jealous. I need to head up there soon
-
Awesome work yet again Hamish!! A small fish bag with a few ice bricks would serve you well when travelling. dispatch and fillet the fish straight away put fillets in a plastic bag and straight in the cooler bag.
-
nice session there Hamish well done. I also refer to those fish as sole. We used to catch them as kids as far up the river as colleges crossing during times of severe drought I even had a few in my native fish tank for a while when I was a kid
-
Excellent work again Hamish some good fish there!!
-
Cracking way to finish the day after work!!

Keep trying, some people take years to nail their first big Jewie. Some people never get one so don’t be discouraged if it takes you a while to work out the big jewfish code. They can be a hard fish to work out. My best success has come from the deeper holes around the tide changes in the colder months at night time. Anchored up or land based with livies

Also on a positive that’s a great haul there guys sounds like an unreal session
-
Would not surprise me one bit if it was a recreational fishers pot not belonging to at least two of the three parties involved

Living the dream Tugger!! Good on yas

jon replied to allgearnoidea's topic in Saltwater
Yeah plus for brekky creek, we used to drive all the way from Ipswich to fish that spot at night when we first got our drivers license. Saw and caught plenty of great salmon there! Saw a 75cm snapper landed next to me during times of drought and high salinity. -
Great report mate some awesome photos too!
-
Awesome work lads, your really getting the hang of the snappers now. Love nothing more than seeing afo members put in the hard yards and get great results!! New goal 90cm ??? 90cm grinner of course

Maybe you can catch up with the bloke on here who reckons there’s no Spanish on CQ coast
-
They come in all different colours depending On What part of Australia but don’t think it’s part of the wrasse family they go by many other names to like what Benno said ie black tip
-
Gday Benno, tbh I was never really sure what to call these ones . Catch them all the time but they are always sub 20cm. This one was pushing 40 . Fisheries reckons they are called chinaman rock cod. No size limit but 4.5 stars eating.
