  1. with scores like that your spot in the team is safe for sure, i feel a tonne is just around the corner. now if you could only take some wickets as well...
  2. sounds like a great way to spend an afternoon. rat kingies go like hell when chasing them around on the rocks!
  3. no cast net is good for rocks or any other underwater obstruction for that matter. they destroy or steal cast nets in no time at all. I would look at the biggest monofilament cast net with bottom pockets i could afford in the budget. you might get an 8ft in that price range, i don't know exactly, I haven't looked for ages. the usual shops often have "20% off all castnets by brandX" specials which are worth waiting for.
  4. for bream and flathead anything from 10 - 20lb would be fine, generally the lighter the better but a lot of people feel more comfortable with something a little heavier. The rod / reel would be fine for anything up to 20lb. good luck
  5. my late border collie dragon was very into science. he tried to clone a turkey one day by splitting it into many many many small pieces and sat waiting for them to grow into new turkeys. unfortunately he didn't get the growth hormone solution at the right ratio so i had to spend 20 minutes raking up all the feathers... the rest of the turkeys apparently got the message - haven't seen on in mine or any of the neighbours yard since.
  6. don't you hate it when some bugger forgets to book the weather...
  7. up to your usual standards then @GregOug - consistency is an admirable attribute.
  8. "reasonable day" with "only" 53 fish boated...
  9. generally speaking, the handrails will suffice in most cases. tying up to a jetty or pylon doesn't take a lot of holding force. it would only be if you were trying to tow another boat or similar that you could run into dramas. if you go down the path of mounting cleats, large backing plate, big washers and heaps of sikaflex or similar between the alum and stainless to stop electrolysis.
  10. there's not a lot of snorkelling spots in and around the jacobs well area unfortunately. if you head south to around the gold coast seaway there is some great spots around the rock walls at the south western corner of south straddie, however, current can be a real problem here. about 1hr before high tide is when to start and finish not long after the change. make sure you run a dive flag on your vessel as well. there is plenty of boat traffic in the channels - the snorkelling is outside the channels and quite shallow but that unfortunately doesn't seem to worry the jetski lice sometimes.
  11. nice work @Kat. Will have to go and try some of my whiting haunts in coming weeks/months to see if I can crack the 40cm mark. Fun fact - @ellicat has NEVER achieved 40+, but he has watched me do it in his presence 3 times. maybe him and @Bretto77 should hang out?
  12. Lucky he didn't slap the horse then I guess? Sorry to hear all those who have been dudded by this gooba - hopefully in time, his uppance will come. Good luck with hopefully retrieving some funds.

  19. Wow mate. Tough day at the office for sure. Maybe the forecast rain in coming days will fire them up.
  20. the red rock cod / scorpion fish are very tasty but certainly require care when filleting. good to get a few different species there.
