  1. nice one mate, that's a pretty good sesh all up
  2. Is there an unlike button to knock him back to 99??
  3. Shame about the lack of target species. Still a bit of action to keep all on board amused though, and a few feeds to boot. Totally agree with you on the grunter though, I love catching them and they are very welcome in my esky too.
  4. I saw a disturbance on the surface and went to have a look and there he was swimming across the creek. Unfortunately I got between him and his destination (not knowing it was a snake and not a fish) and he approached the kayak and started to try and climb on, I just peddled forward and he slid off and kept on his merry way. They are a stunning looking snake, usually quite timid however if one did bite you it’s not good news.
  5. I have a very unique set of skills… it tried very hard to leave the net and thankfully its spikes dug in to the net and locked it in, just on a rather jaunty angle.
  6. Umm… not quite. Go fish!
  7. They do exist! A genuine SEQ barramundi. Caught today on a gulp 4” drop shot minnow in watermelon pearl. Not quite the legal size of 58cm and closed season so released for another time. Only other notable catch for the morning was one good flathead at 64.5cm. all in all a good morning on the yak - save for a broken rod and a red bellied black trying to join me on the kayak! cheers, benno <‘><
  8. Flathead, 64.51cm, team north just jokes… it’s pretty much right on 64.5, but I had to say a bigger number than @Old Scaley!
  9. At least you still got to go fishing! At least that’s one positive…?
  10. Hey mate. Depends on what you expect to catch on the beach but for things like salmon, bream etc I would go with anything less than 20lb, generally the lighter the better. Leader - if the stuff you’re chasing has teeth, maybe 20-30lb, again, the lighter the better. for the estuary/lake stuff, your trout gear probably won’t be far away. 1-3kg or 2-4kg rods around 7ft, small spinning reels with 6-10lb braid. Small plastics up to 3-3.5”, jigheads around 1/8 or 1/6, up to 1/4 if deeper or a lot of run. This should work on the majority of your estuary species. would love to see some reports of your cod/trout trips too!
  11. 3 x feeds bagged and in the fridge - Dorothy has requested snapper tonight so snapper it shall be! I pulled hooks on another decent fish going hard to try and beat the sharks - would rather that than the alternative! ramp wasn’t too bad - would have been better if old mate who had launched with no bungs had moved his car at some point during the beaching/bailing process but we made do with the one ramp in the meantime…
  12. Welcome Amber. You should come camping at Moreton sometime - home to the previously named Jeff the bandicoot, Pete the python, Sammy the spider and Candice the cross dressing curlew - you’d fit in great! Hopefully you’ll be catching more and bigger fish than those other two before long!
  13. Thanks for the morning out @ellicat, very very annoyed you bumped me down the trev leader board though - I’m amazed your legs could hold that one up too. Glad we packed the Stella’s and stickbaits… Glad my random inclusion of a cast net paid off - haven’t thrown one since back in the pre-child days…
  14. Apparently popcorn chicken from the cornel is another dead bait option.
  15. i thought you were going to go with the diamond trevally or diamond scale mullet... but either or.
  16. Thanks for the trips @ellicat, hoping we can replicate our Oz day success again soon!
  17. Hey mate. You don’t even have to go as far as green. On first light the drop off south of the Hybers light and back towards the wello pt channel holds grassies, squire, flathead etc. I usually run plastics, 3” zman minnowz in yellow/gold or new penny seem to go well, usually on about 1/6 or 1/4oz jighead. Fish the lightest line you dare. Incoming tide for the win. I have had heaps more success along here than around green, has the advantage of being closer to launch as well.
