  1. Lots of spots on the Tweed to land based fish. Letitia Spit at fingal. Lots of different options. Behind the hospital can be good for tailor, trevs and flatties. Boyds bay bridge. The rock wall along Chinderah all the way through to fingal boat ramp. Just a start but look and you'll find some good spots.
  2. I tried to get a couple before i left but it was the week of the flathead classic and couldn't find any anywhere local. Allready ordered a few more.
  3. HI Guys, Was hoping the photo issue was solved before posting this trip but better late than never. Left home early on the 4th October and met mate a Nudgee and did the drive to the old stomping grounds of Hampo (also known as Rockhampton). Met a mate with his 4.53 Territory Sea Jay, stocked up with ice and fuel and headed north to Stanage bay. Road in was really good after hearing all the horror stories. 70km of bitumen and only 30km of dirt which had mostly been recently graded but pretty dry and dusty in some parts. Set up camp late arvo and rigged up ready for the first time chasing barra. Excited was an understatement. Now unfortunately due to the first night piss up we were up a little bit late the next morning and definitely a bit shady. Anyway we were off. Headed out the front for a jig on some rubble ground for no luck and a sea sick mate who had never been offshore, nothing to do with still being hungover. Headed up the passage to the first creek and saw fish on the side scan straight away, second snag we fished and about half an hour in I hooked the first barra on a vibe in deep on the snag. Great hit and fight and landed my first barra at 75cm. A few casts later on the same vibe I hooked a lot bigger one and lost it not long after. A mighty swirl is all I saw. Doh! Change of spots and with lots of fish on the sounder tried the same vibe and hooked a 63cm grunter which gave me a bit of curry. PB and back she went. Back to the first snag a little bit later later and a change of lure to a fat shad and I had annother 76cm Barra. A lot better fight and eventually in the net. And then I lost the magic vibe on the snag, and as much as we tried we couldn’t get it back. I shed a tear or two I have to say. Didn’t get a bite on any other colour all trip. Day two was very slow and bloody hot. The dog was not happy and we had to constantly wet him down. Straight to the creeks and hit probably 20 creeks for a few fingermark biggest by my mate at 42cm. Missed a few bites on Texas rigged paddle tails and learnt a bit of respect after being dusted a few times. Skipper got a 65cm barra at one of the last snags for the day. Back for more beers and snooze for me. The other two went out for a late arvo session with no luck on the ledge out the front. Saturday was windy with 15 – 20kt SE blowing early but we’ll just go ‘around the corner’ my mate said. 60kms late we get back to the ramp broken, battered but with my mate getting a 76cm barra. Bugger only started fishing 6 months ago. I won’t forget that trip back in a hurry and either will my back. Good feed at the pub that night and packed up camp in the morning for the drive back home. Great trip with a couple of good mates and already planning the next one. https://imgur.com/gallery/clIm6RJ
  4. Nice spot down there. The creek is pretty shallow and protected you can cross the creek to fish the bank on the otherside. Good spot for kids. the beach would be ok if no swell.
  5. Any recommendations for a mobile mechanic in Brisbane for a mate? 15hp 2 banger Evinrude.
  6. A few safe options, Labrador/Biggera Waters foreshore. Council Chambers Cascade Gardens Tally/Currumbin Creek All good spots for kids. More adventurous try any canal bridge/rock wall etc. or Emerald Lakes and Bond Uni.
  7. It's all a bit of an act and it sells to the bogan surf/fish young crew. Bit of jackass vibe. Ex pro surfers that got famous doing stupid stunts like the shark incident so kept it going and yeah they party way too hard doing it but have a very successful business.
  8. It got dark and cold and the fire was calling. Would have only been a couple of hours in total. Better bite once it turned to run out.
  9. Hi Guys, Hit the Broadwater again on Saturday arvo on the top of the tide to chase some squid. Few boats at the first spot but nobody catching so moved after 20mions to a new spot. 2 on the first drift and hits or squid on each drift after. Ended up with 6. 3 more dropped beside the boat by my slow to react deckie and about another 6 dropped during the retrieve. Good steady session and lots of fun. My salt & pepper squid stir fry was great. Left the lips numb and the eyeballs sweating.
  10. As long as my lips are numb and sweating out my eyeballs then I'm happy.
  11. A few squid today on the high tide. Only my third time chasing them properly and finally got a few. Lost 2 other big ones. Nice day and plenty of boats chasing them. Any chilli squid recipes?
  12. AMF Magnets online. We buy the Neodymium Magnets from them and they have good service. Get 20 or so for about 15$

    A few fools

Hi guys, The fish must have known its fools day as I managed to fool a few this morning. Launched at Diamond Head at 5.30 and fished the Aldershots. Slow to start and a few small grunter,GT and jew once the tide started out. Hooked a steam train on 6lb of course and chased it for bit before being busted off. I thought Tarpon it was that quick across the surface but no jumps so not sure. Got the heavier outfit with same lure and hooked up again to something big but pulled hooks after a long run. Mate came with me and he got his first jew, grunter and GT on lures. He was rapt. I good flatty to finish the day and back by 9.30. All round a fun little session.

    Go Carl.

Not good but got 1 more day to qualify for Sunday hopefully. About 30th out of 50 so not too bad

    Go Carl.

Yeah he got his start in the states by winning the ABT and the committed and moved there. He's won one tournament in the Elites which is amazing for someone who didn't grow up fishing for their bass. Big dollars with the winner takes 300k.

    Go Carl.

Let's go Carl Jocumson tonight in the Bassmaster Classic. Amazing how far he's gone from Toowoomba to Tennessee. Anybody else going to follow it?
  18. Not really surprised I have got a couple up there. He was caught on the tip of Short Island not the bar.
  19. Take the fly swatter the horse flys were bad. Good luck.
  20. Fished the pin bar this morning for a jew but very quiet. Not much bait or fish on the sounder. Lot of weed and dirty water in some areas made trolling difficult. One small cod was the highlight today. Back early as it was a tad warm.

    gh

Emerald Lakes has quite a few and other GC lakes.
  22. Yep already replaced it. Won't tie it on 6lb again but.
  23. Been pretty busy at work only been out a few times. Bream and flatties on lures near the north arm mouth is about it. Although I did tie on a new lure the other day and trolled it about 100m before getting smashed by a jack. Lure gone. Bugger.
  24. If you mean the rock bar probably pretty hard but the rest of the area would be ok. Lots of jetties upstream and downstream from the ramp and upstream you get a couple of small inlets that looks really shallow might be OK for a yak but. Sanctuary Cove across the river which had some weird pontoon graveyard bay that would be really good in a yak. And obviously all the rock walls and Marina. So many spots.
  25. Moved about 200m from the Tallowood Rd ramp on Coomera River a few weeks ago and yesterday was the first trip with a mate and my boy Maitland. Mainly had a look around and my lordy is she a big system loaded with every type of structure lot different to Nerang and it's going to take a while to get a few spots worked out. Boat ramps a bit tricky solo especially on high tide. Flicked plastics at a few spots including the rock bar near the god awful Candyland. Good spot no wonder it's known for big jacks. No fish but good times and exciting to work out so many new areas.
