  1. unlucky mate nice snap. i havent chased them for a few years now. might be time to get back into it and hit good old mud island and the port wall again!
  2. sounds like alot of fun. Just need to talk myself into doing a bar crossing then ill be fishing down there as well.
  3. agreed. Even when 99% of rec fisho's have the same common goal, its funny that we can still be divided on topics relating to fishing.
  4. yeah i disagree. i dont know about you, but i've seen plenty of people catching good fish over the break. if it was as "wiped out" as you say it is, then the fishing would take a long time to recover...which is doesn't. Its a bit like when under sized snapper used to be allowed to be taken as they were "squire". The bay is consistently getting better every year with sapper fishing, especially now with closed seasons in place. All of the local fishing charter operators would be out of business overnight, again this is not the case. They are all still putting clients onto quality fish. its a bit like people complaining about the commercial fishing in the pine river which has been going on forever. yet year after year people clean up on prawns all the while the commercial blokes are still operating and (apparently clearing out the entire river)
  5. everyone has their own personal favourites. For flatties, i prefer soft plastics as they stay in the strike zone all the time. My go to is ZMan 4 inch electric chicken as for hard bodies for bream, i like Atomic Hardz crank 38
  6. crushing it! no jew show there heads while chasing the threadies?
  7. I was under the impression that the only real danger area was around Hervey Bay? Cant say ive heard of issues from Moreton Bay
  8. Good on you for trying to organise anyway Brian. ive got it in my head to organise a kayak social in the future. Just a one day thing followed by a bbq as I know a lot of folk on here have kayaks.
  9. agreed. Its too hard to have jack of all trades gear. I tend to focus on a few species per season, and that's where I focus my efforts, research and gear purchases.
  10. so do i have this right...one permit covers all in QLD?
  11. so i wonder how that goes in terms of identifying the age of a fish purely on its size....
  12. straight from the horses mouth at SEQWATER. "There are no recreation activities permitted on Leslie Harrison Dam" I cannot find any updated or new info about rec activities, so id take the below site as correct http://www.seqwater.com.au/water-supply/dam-operations/leslie-harrison-dam**
  13. What a weapon, I'm sure it will land some quality fish.
  14. is it just me, or are there a lot of new members joining and creating somewhat strange new topics as their first post...? can it be a rule that their first post must be an introduction? might help filter out the fake accounts etc

  15. I've just bought a few of the eBay cheapies only for occasional use. I've used them in the past and they do not last long at all. redclaw destroy them very quickly! if I wanted them to last a good few years of heavy use, then id make my own like this
  16. ive always found them to be a lazy fighting fish for their size, great shark bait though
  17. little bastard would just puff up and float
  18. picked myself a cheap little kayak after being kayakless for about a year. excited to hit the water again soon! watch this space for reports..

  19. what a trip some of those fish are absolute donkeys! well done boys
  20. Product: Shimano Sienna 1000fd Type: Spinning reel Colour Range: depends on ago Preferred Colour Thus Far: Price: $49.95 Quality: Great with maintenance like all reels Action: Experience: for a cheap entry level reel, it is awesome. I've caught multiple sharks (some at the 1m mark), Jew, rays, bream, bass, flathead, snapper, the list goes on. All caught on a 1000 sized reel. Cannot beat bang for buck, great reel to start off on for a variety of species. Used it with bait, hard bodies, soft plastics. Pictures:
  21. Brothers GPS was playing up so no exact distance. I will probably work out a rough distance travelled. Yeah we got a few small school mackerel. One was big enough for dinner. Small tailor were in absolute crazy numbers tho. All mackerel caught on halco twisty slugs
  22. Just to let everyone know, went out to the mile marker and back (launch from nudgee beach) and used only 12L I'm very happy with that
  23. Well I can guarantee that as soon as I reach halfway of my fuel (not including my emergency extra) I won't be going any further
