    I think your question might revolve around how much is spent on a pot. I would suggest that with most pots in the $30 to 50 mark, they would spend $5 to 10 to keep them safe. Those who spend $50 to $150 per pot might spend up to $50 to safeguard them however those who crab well: * have ways of protecting/camouflaging their pots already and perhaps have less need of a solution; or/and * don't bother in high traffic areas or in times of high flow.

    I agree up to a point. My fishing this year has been so crap Im beginning to unenjoy it. Like loving to play cricket but getting beaten by ten wickets every week. And being in Brisbane compounds it because it's not like I get away from everything when everyone is getting away from everything at the same time and in the same place.

    Despite having all the attributes it fishes poorly IMO. Always bait around, with some deeper water there and structure. It's like a mini version of the codhole/jewhole at the Maroochydore highway bridge but with much less action. HAve not had much success anywhere on the Pine but that's more a reflection of my skill level than the reality. Def casting upcurrent is the way to go I agree.

    I have seen some big improvements with a stainless prop. There is so much less flex and it bites hard so better response. But it can be negated if you have the wrong size and pitch, or the wrong depth setting on your motor.

    I agree that tiges were as deserved winners as cows, but respectfully point out that a penalty doesn't need to have the potential to score points as an outcome to be awarded. As someone said somewhere, theyve seen a hundred given and a hundred ignored in the same situation. He did change hhis line but it wouldnt have changed the result. Hard on the Tiges. Having said that, how was Taumololo going to be stopped last weekend when refs ruled interference. And the penalty against Parra earlier in the weekend was much worse. On both last night's occasion and Thursday's occasion, the rule was correct but the interpretation wasnt. IMO

    NIce. He'll be well muscled with that breeding. Just watch him over the heifers, probably throw a sizeable calf but I'm sure from what you've said that you'll be aware of that.

    Yes we caught a few on the weekend on the Mary, one about 60cm! We called those fellas itchety grubs, and worked out pretty soon after moving out west not to throw rocks at the bags in the trees.

    Herring will school up whereas generally you will get poddy mullet a te mouths of narrow gutters, on the drop off of sandbanks and yes, for sure on flats sand and mud. If you have a tinny you can go up little creeks and cast net by sight when you see them trying to get past.

    It will draw through the line without a fuel pump I think, althoughyou have to be careful your lines dont get tiny cracks or splits. You have to have a dedicated breather valve built in to the system so the gas can escape on a hot day. You can either have a sender built in to the tank which then requires a gauge to read fill level, or you can use a piece of dowel down into the tank when you want to check the level. I use dowel on mine but I would love a sender etc but it's no big deal really. Gradually you learn how muuch fuel you use per hour and how much you have left. 100 litres equates to over 100kg which means another person in weight, and if that goes up the front that can change the dynamics of your boat ride and handling.

    Yes magazines are doiing it tough but you if you come up with an idea they will generally take it on board. so you may not be paid but you may well be published.

    Exactly, and more knots so less strength. Plus extra swivels to lose in snaggy country. ANd less able to wind to reasonable length to cast.

    Also, when I'm bait fishing I just use a modified albright rather than FG because the FG is such a low profile that the sinker will go over the FG and not go back down to the swivel after you cast. Also, I can tie an albright in about twenty seconds, while an FG takes me about 3 or 4 minutes. Important when you're rigging up quickly after a bust off and getting bait back in the water as quickly as possible. But FG is great for chucking lures as it goes through the runners very easily.

    Just look for spots where a fish can smash a baitfish like a herring or mullet without spending energy chasing it. Short, sharp shock as PF said. This is what jack prefer so anywhere they can see bait cruising past and can hammer that bait from their hideout will be a good spot. However, as mentioned, they can be very temperamental and not hit for ages until suddenly...

    Most seajay are the same and have a ply floor but for example the ranger sports has acheckerplate floor, ideal for hosing out the mud etc. Also built by family business in Bundy. The McLay has a checkerplate floor and has foam trapped underneath thee gunnels and floor. There might also be some of the quintrex and other brands that come with a chckerplate floor but you have to pick and choose. Trailcraft used to be built in Western Australia but I don't believe they are any more, but their tinnies had a plate floor. Correct me if I'm wrong about where they're built. Youll also find some of the plate boat builders have plate floors, like OMM , AMM in a 5 m centre or side console.
