  1. Most of the fish up north are release only, fillet and release into the briney. Nom nom nom
  2. Our go to ramp now you just got to be prepared as there is only a small shop with limited hours.
  3. Yeah got it last year
  4. The weekend come around with some good weather so we hit up the reef out of Turkey beach for a few days. The coral trout were good quality along with big red throat and cod. We snorkelled around lunch on Saturday in the shallows then we anchored up Saturday night in the same spot and had a glass out on Sunday. A few sharks got some of our big trout but most fish made the deck. I'm already keen to do another trip up there fingers crossed for good weather.

We wait for a 2 to 3 day weather window and tow our boats up there and stay out on the reef for a night or 2. It must be good weather or we don't bother as it's a good distance of open water to get caught in.

Got out for an overnighter on the Sykes reef just east of Heron island. We had 2 boats and crew with perfect weather for the 2 days. The 1st day we chipped away getting the odd coral trout, red throat emperor, tuskie and plenty of hussa. Anchoring on the western side of Sykes reef for the night both boats rafting up for dinner and a few drinks. The 2nd day the fish chewed harder and I caught a couple of red emperor and a few more trout for the box. Other fish we got was moari cod, Moses perch, spangeled emperor and large trevally. By lunch we had bagged out and it was time for a snorkel at Sykes. The other crew had never been into Fitzroy lagoon so we stopped there for another snorkel before heading home. Another top trip weather wise with the bonus of the best fish Nth Queensland can produce for us to take home.
  11. Thanks Kat it really is worth doing.
  12. We're doing a big trip to Moreton next year and the nav popped straight out my friends son wanted someone to get bogged so he could use our maxi Trax and there was another vehicle bogged in front of us and soon as I stopped on the uphill section I couldn't get going again without help so my mates son had some fun.
  13. We were just there so September October we up there
  14. Good campsites alright and the nav popped straight out I stopped straight away when lost momentum look at the wheels the sand isn't even half way up.
  15. About 90 litres on the island
  16. The island is that big to see everything it's easier to have a southern camp and a northern camp if you got the time.
  17. Lance might be having a word to the weather gods for me
  18. Spent 10 days on Fraser island with a great crew, we had 6 cars and split our time in 2 camping zone. The first 3 nights on the beach near Eli creek then the last 6 nights north of Waddy point near Ocean lake. The weather was perfect with the wind barely getting above 5 knots for most of our trip. The fishing was good and we all got plenty of tailor with the odd dart mixed in, we got our wives and kids onto the fish as much as possible. We visited the usual spots like Lake Mackenzie, Eli creek, Central station, Maheno wreck, Champagne pools, Ocean lake, Waddy point headland and through Nagalla rocks to Sandy cape. The sunrises and sunsets were brilliant and a bit of drone fishing got us a couple of sharks after dark. I swam every day in the surf with a rinse off in the fresh water at either Eli creek or Ocean lake. Already keen to get back to the big beach until next time I'll leave you with some photos.
  19. Fun filled day fishing and island time and all this on our doorstep
