  1. Good mixed box plenty of fun in the shallows
  2. Couple of nice bay snaps Steve
  3. There is going to be a closed season for Spanish Mackerel and a reduction in catch limit. For recreational fishers a reduction to 1 per person and 2 maximum for the boat when 2 or more fishermen are onboard. The closed season for southern Qld is in 3 week blocks for February and March for a total of 6 weeks for next year. With science pointing towards only 17 percent of the unfished biomass left, these changes are being introduced. Further more professional fishing total qouta has reduced as well.
  4. Thanks for the report Neil it's what I want to see just before I head up the island myself in a couple of weeks
  5. Thanks Robbie every trip long or a quick weekender is worth it.
  6. Yes I do a few good trips a year away with the van now. I've got about 5 to 7 years to go until retirement and will have a good lay of the land by then.
  7. I plan on doing the lap around Australia a few times with the caravan and boat. Hope to drop a line in many places.
  8. Bloody oath going to do more of this especially in retirement
  9. 3 sunsets in a row down there if it wasn't for the croc I would have had a good barra. This what they call the home billabong next to the camp.
  10. My fishing spot at Yellow water in Kakadu

  15. Been on a trip up into the Northern territory but on the way back the wife and I stopped back in Cairns. The weather was mint so I hit up my mate in town and went fishing. Got my PB on 2 large mouth nanigi plus my mate caught a cracking gold spot cod. We also caught a good bag of coral trout to throw in the box. I have fluked the good weather again like last year when I hit Cairns. About our touring in the caravan we have travelled 12000 km and had an incredible trip. Hooked one good barra in Kakadu with it jumping 3 or 4 times before a croc got it. Until the next big trip here are some of the fishing trip photos.
  16. He was the guru Kelvin, I reckon he blessed me with good weather for his last trip out.
  17. Lance was a member here (aussie123) on the forum so quiet a few would remember him he always would help with passing on his wealth of fishing knowledge. I'm sure he was watching and bringing me some luck on this trip
  18. See ya old mate VID20220529124213.mp4
  19. Great snapper I need to get out before the snapper closure
  20. Got a good weather window for a run out the the southern great barrier Reef. Had a mate Aaron with me and Lance's ashes to take out for his last trip to his favourite fishing hole. The fishing was alright as we got some good coral trout and red throat emperor. We spent 2 nights out offshore tucked in the Lee of the reef at night. The weather was perfect and found enough fish to fill out Esky with coral trout, red throat emperor, moari cod, spangled emperor, tuskies and hussar coming home. Before we left we had a snorkel and spread Lance's ashes while I said a poem. I had a last beer with Lance half a can for me and half a can for the old man now out to sea. Good bye old mate thanks for all the memories you will not be forgotten. A snorkel over the reef deserves a beer afterwards. A few coral trout for the plate. Time to wack the sides off.
  21. An overnight out on the reef and a top night on anchor
