  1. I only hope they confiscate his car & boat and that he likes pineapples.
  2. Found this in the courier mail, 3 fisherman caught with approx. 52 snapper with a catch weight of 61kg. fish caught from either Moreton Bay or Offshore Moreton/Straddie. https://www.couriermail.com.au/truecrimeaustralia/police-courts/fishing-trip-costs-trio-15000-after-huge-snapper-catch/news-story/ee781d2612e929cbf178b206bda2568c
  3. I prefer to fish shallow tempest and the other shallow shoals and reefs in that area by anchoring up current of the structure and float baits back in a burley trail. Its not everyone's cup of tea tho, don't know many people who enjoy anchor retrieval in 35-40m of water. Best thing is trial all techniques.
  4. Depending how much freeboard you have @xander mate, 10ft is quite small, It would be really good in the small creeks north you, going down around River heads etc , it will be testing if the weather turns bad, Id be looking at 13ft on average with high sides if you can,
  5. What type of moreton bay brutes are u interested in chasing @ellicat Snapper, tuna, cobia, tuskfish,Golden trevally, cod, quite a few XOS species frequent Moreton Bay at certain times of the year... let me know i might be able to pm u some sneaky tips
  6. Ill fish it quite a few ways @ellicat Ill do run in and run out tide based around sunset, from there ill look at fishing it slack water/tide change in the day time May take me a few trips and weeks to get something but it looks good as I marked plenty of fish on the sounder Like @jon says... Big black spot tuskies often coat them selves in slime and jamb them selvestight into cover at night making targeting them quite hard in the dark Hopefully I can position the boat at anchor in the right spot and get what ever lives there to take a bait a fair bit away from the ledge as i think hooking a tuskie in close to it only means one thing and that's bust offs. I think the 80lb gear will make an appearence for this spot,
  7. Will let u know @jon when I fish it and what it produces,
  8. Hey Hamish Just curious, what sinker size do u find Gets you your most bites/fish?
  9. Quite possibly you would catch Mud crabs @Jaz44, I found mud crabbing in open water very hard in SE QLD, Always catch Carpet Sharks and small fish rather than crabs, Give it a go I reckon,
  10. Good Luck @ellicat , Should be a good day for it. Look forward to the report.
  11. No true mate, but id rather not be catching snapper at all during closed season @Towknee, Alot of my fish are released to fight another day so that doesn't bother me.
  12. No rocks that I know of at Curtain Artificial, possibly a old crusty mooring bouy floating around, few weeks back I watched 2 dugongs and a big turtle cruising the area, quite possibly one of those...
  13. Im just hoping I dont hook a snapper and it be a PB fish.... a PB in closed season would break my heart.
  14. It would had been tough going today mate, plenty of boats on water. Those big tides make fishing the Bulwer area tough... I fish it a lot for snapper and bite windows are normaly 1/2 hour either side of tide changes. Good to hear the boat flies.. 80km on water is hooting.
  15. There painted on the sides of the channel markers themselves. Or get yourself the Boating HD navionics app. You'll find them on that very easily.
  16. Yeah south of Tangalooma @Drop Bear Beacons are E2, E3,E4 & E5 some very worthy looking ledges ESE of that area.. looks like a top spot for cod ,tuskfish ans grass sweetlip. Hopefully I can fish it this week and it not hold snapper.
  17. This was doing 60km coming home at 4pm,
  18. Get out there gents I went for a look this arvo on a glassed bay looking for new spots.
  19. Didnt see any signs today at clontarf. No fisheries , no water police. Beautiful arvo tho... Did myself a favour and went looking for new spots in the bay to fish for something other than snapper. Found some great looking ground out south of the 4 beacons that looks promising.
  20. Lets hope it works well for the future and our Children's Kids get to enjoy these magnificent fish .
