  2. I'm after some advice on the type of rod and reel i should be looking for when targeting some of the speedsters in the estuaries and inshore reefs. I currently have a plastics combo - 2-4kg rod, 2500 reel, 6lb braid. Good for flatties and bream but seems a bit undergunned when i have hooked (and lost) some decent trevs and macks. I don't have the cash for specific combos for all situations, so im thinking of a good allrounder that could cast slugs for spotties, plastics for jacks and trevs in the river and maybe even drop some plastics on Snapper in the bay (shallow water). Any ideas? Budget would be $300-400 - i know not much but not keen on spending too much. I was thinking something around 4-6 or 5-8kg graphite rod (drop shot?) and a 3000 or 4000 reel with a quick retrieve and load it up with 15lb braid.. What reels have a good retrieve ratio for casting slugs which aren't starting at $300 ++? Any ideas would be good. Cheers
