  1. I have caught tiny flatties like that before on a bait jig.
  2. Normally I would love anything DIY and don't get me wrong these do look pretty good but can't you get the standard collapsible traps for like $5? Only $2-3 off ebay if I remember right. Have you had issues these types of traps to warrant making your own?
  3. I've heard of people finding snapper full of them and marlin getting high eating the big green sea toads!
  4. I had the same problem Angus in Kedron Brook. Spotted many big tillies but wouldn't take my bait.
  5. 16' is massive. I've used a 13' for many years now. I'm a little bloke and I can outcast a lot of people, especially the big blokes with their big rods. Unless you really know what you're doing and find the 16' comfortable, I would recommend the 14' one. It may be shorter but you'll be able to give it a lot more oomph than the longer model. You also mentioned about the long butt. If it's a wooden butt, then the length is easily sorted there. The few surf rods that I have owned, I have cut and drilled out the standard wodden butt and whipped up a longer one on the lathe out of a spade handle. As I got more experienced (and bigger and stronger) in casting, the longer butt gave me the ability to put a lot more power into my casting. Anyway, that's my 2 cents worth. Good luck in your choice.
  6. You should get on to a few mackies. Just find a beacon and start casting those slugs, while you drop a pillie or livie to the bottom. Once you get one drop him down for a sharky. That's what we did when I went out with Kurt.

I got this Wahoo while trolling around a couple islands out of the southern point of Thailand.
