  1. This may not be a good business for me. Using all the plastic up on experimental new colors for my own trips.
  2. I was hoping to join Tugger and Lance on the last 1770 trip but the Gobblers thing got in the way. Running out of time at the moment but there is an opportunity to head to Fraser on Sunday and return on Tuesday. If anyone wants to bring their boats up and join Luke Landrunner and I let us know. We will be sleeping on the boat Sunday and Monday night. Chasing Tuna and other species.
  3. Thanks everyone for the words of support.
  4. Still wetting the bed hey?
  5. I can sponsored myself now.
  6. Thank you, there was fair amount of negotiating to do to reach the deal but we are happy it's done. Thanks for the offer and it would be great to see what we can do for each other. Definitely is exciting and something I was intending on dong into the future but when the opportunity came up we decided to take it.
  7. After some negotiation with the owner of Gobblers Lures, my wife and I have purchased the small business. We will be taking it over in early July and manufacturing from home. (Just in time for me to make a few lures for the Kimberly trip coming up in end of July). It will take a few months to find our feet and then hopefully we can start making some small changes to improve the Gobbler experience. Predominantly my Julie will be manufacturing the lures while I be doing marketing, development etc. I'm sure there will a special for AFO members when we are sorted. This is why I have been quite on the forum for a little while.
  8. I'll keep an eye out for you Brad.
  9. Great trip and fish as always. Good to know in 25kts winds you can still fine shelter out there.
  10. The Australian Lure Expo is being held at Beenleigh this weekend if any one is interested. I’ll be there for a look from 9.30am tomorrow. Beenleigh Showgrounds, 38 – 44 James St, Beenleigh QLD 4207
  11. There are some great boats there depending on what you're looking for. It saves tripping around to all different yards to see the quality difference. For me personally I was seeing if there were any fibreglass walk arounds that would suit me better that what I already have and the short answer is no. I am planning to upsize my car from my current Toyota Prado to a 200 series Landcruiser in 2 years time when the lease runs out. If there is an opportunity to upgrade to a slightly bigger Grady-White with a hard top I may do that, money pending. Could not do it first time around because of the towing capacity on the Prado is only 2500kg so this was the only model that was within limits just.
  12. You're going through some serious health issues and we all hope you get over them quickly.
  13. Glad to hear it was a success and your back safely.
  14. I went to the boat show for a look. They do it well wit the free park n ride from movie world. But after going for the past 3 years I'll take a break for the next one. Seems some comapnies need to give thier sales staff a swift kick in the rear. You can be looking at a big money boats looking as interest as you can and they are more interested talkng to each other. Always making sure they don't make eye contact or they may have to offer assisatnce. See this all the time and for the money they spend to be there they are letting opportunities go by. I do these sort of shows in my own business (and don't particualy like them) but, you don't let potential customers walk away without asking what you can do for them.
  15. I had to look that up. Pedant, a person who is excessively concerned with minor details and rules or with displaying academic learning. Sounds nothing like me.
  16. Today looks excellent weather wise, tomorrow though it's going to blow hard according to the forecast. Keep safe you boys.
  17. Good bag, next time for Mr Spanish.
  18. Good result for a family day. Definitely a good idea to get the guts out of a shark and the brown sinu that runs down the spine in the gut cavity is the one you need to get out. People say you must head them but, I have never found you have to. Just get that brown stuff out, you will know it by the smell. Otherwise one of the best eating things swimming IMO.
  19. Welcome to the site @toughmars2. There is a lot of information on the site and quite a history of posts that are still very helpful when using the search function. This thread is from back in 2007 and you might not get a response to your information. I have done it myself on occasions and then realised some of the members involved in the thread may not even be members anymore. Look forward to your future reports and ask as many questions as you like the AFO community will answer as best they can.
  20. With older boats transom rotting out can be a problem. Google transom rot on Google/Youtube and they will show how to do a tap test and look for signs. Replacing a transom on an old boat can cost as much as your buy price of the boat at 5K.
  21. So wish the timing was better and l could have joined you. Just saw this, could be a few people around.
  22. Weather at this stage is looking good. I would have loved to have joined you but, with some business I have to take care of and weekend already committed timing is not right. I'll look for the next weather window that pops up. It is a brilliant place to fish and explore. Good luck to those that can make it.
