  1. Obviously the 4bee isn't under cover coz if it is you really are a woose - as you say !
  2. So the big fish eat the small fish till there is extinction ? That doesn't seem right. How long till the small fish re-populate ? (How old are the smaller fish when eaten ?)
  3. Well when I was a kid I learnt from fisher people that Mulloway in particular would come up into a freshwater river that breached the mouth in a storm because a swim in freshwater meant the sea lice on the fish would drop off. This is mid-west WA where streams are certainly cut off from the sea for a good many years at times.
  4. Brown's Mountain is where they go in the video I think (Don't have the time to look at it again ...) I don't know how far that is for you in your location ... Brown's Mountain Co-ordinates: 34-02-00S, 151-39-20E 41km from Sydney.
  5. Fergo, Have you seen the DVD called StrikeZone - Tuna Time ? This is a fairly comprehensive video all dedicated to YFT off Sydney. Rgds, Steve
  6. I have seen a video on killing fish properly and comparing the fillets but I have no idea where to find it now ....
  7. Thanks guys for the additional write-up on prepartions for eating. Much apppreciated.
  8. Ellicat, There was a time a way back when the BOM got it wrong and there was a big storm with a lot of damage. Since then, they 'err', or their software has been reprogrammed to err on the cautious side. I live in Toowoomba and I now know to only consider it a possibility of significant rain when the BOM site predicts a 90% chance of rain. I can be pretty sure there will be no rain at 70% and only a shower at 80%. It is also heavily influenced by legal people. They ruin everything. A more disastrous forecast than it turns out to be means no possibility of any legal implications.
  9. How 'bout a little appendix on their preparation for eating ... ? A lovely write up it is though. Thank you.
  10. Boat was sold underneath me even though I made an appointment early tomorrow. I'm not sure I like the guy.
  11. Is this possible ? I have a boat inspection tomorrow (Thurs 23rd July 2020) in Capalaba and would feel better if someone were by my side for the inspection ...

Snap, Do you know where the wires come from ? Try to trace where they connect at the other end. That'll tell you what they do. Rgds,
  13. Hi all, I have never been to the boat show in Brisbane. Can I ask what to expect ? Who does it try to cater for in the main ? Can I expect sizeable show specials ? It is a fair cost to attend ... Rgds, Steve
  14. Ellicat is onto it. Those cliff gaffs are used all the time at Steep Point. Probably best to find a tackle retailer in WA or make them yourself.
  15. Thanks guys, Just did a recce of Shorncliffe pier and the Tinci Tamba wetland boardwalk area yesterday in the guise of teaching my son how to drive ... A bit blowy at Shorncliffe which is expected. No-one catching anything. Nice day out though. The Sandgate area is a bit upmarket eh ! Not too shabby living down there. Cheers, Steve
  16. Thanks for your efforts here. I really enjoy your work. Seriously.
  17. I wouldn't mind visiting the same sort of area in these holidays with the kids too. I'm using Google Maps to try to locate an area. (I'm in Toowoomba). What's below the Bullocky's Rest area? Is it all mud flats ? Can one use a kayak in the area safely? Are there any bridges or rocky breakwaters or something to scramble across? I would prefer saltwater fish. A jetty or three would be good ...
  18. I spose things would be a bit less terrifying if drifting overnight using a drogue ?? I guess it does mean you are at the mercy of the current ..
  19. and as far as using them for bait is concerned ... just put them in the freezer until required (whole) and chop them into a couple of bits for shark ?
  20. So you catch them like fish ! Weird to say the least ... I'm a West Australian and we don't have eels. This is kinda weird - especially the slime thing. A hook on some really small line then ...
  21. Hi all, How does one go about catching eels for bait ? I see a pdf from Fisheries that details a proper net but I can't see too many of you with that arrangement ! Does one need a license ? Rgds, Steve
