  1. Well I think I may be getting a little excited with my posting but. Today I got away a little early from work and had 3 hour of free time. So what better else to do than look for some fresh ground close to the ramp. First stop was West Peel artificial reef as some guys at the bar reckon it is hot at the moment. I covered the distance from Raby bay boat ramp to WP in about 10 minutes are 32 knots. Not much showing on the sounder. They are in more water than I first though. Some in as much as 45-50ft. Found a little more ground in another spot I ain’t telling anyone. Here’s a sounder photo for a tease. Can’t wait to flog it on Friday . You should have seen me when I saw I didn’t have any rods onboard Has anyone actually caught anything at West peel? I reckon the guys at the pub are ******** me. regards, Mick
  2. Get your tags out 27.17.990 S 153.22.192 E this is where I caught most of my bigger sharks.
  3. Yeah, nice weekend. I got let off once after a few too many beers, it all depends on who you get. And how you behave to them. Learnt that when I was 14
  4. Well not good news boys. I went for a ride out there. I launched 5.3a m Saturday. Was at the sinkhole at 6.30 (just before sunrise). Set up ready to go. After 10 minutes of looking found some ledges, nothing fantastic and nothing on the sounder anywhere in the sinkhole. Started fishing on the ledges after 10 minutes had a shark on the end about 50cm. I just cut him off, after about another 10 sharks I decided to go lighter. Down to 10 pound. Now I just go busted off every time. So at 7.30am I set off for Redcliffe as I wanted to try some marks off bribie. As I get back into Redcliffe was boarded by the coppers to be nailed because my flares where 2 DAYS out of date. I just called it quits after that. Was not my weekend to say the least. Have bought some new flares today.
  5. http://www.fishing-mates.com/moretonbay/sinkhole.htm http://www.ausfish.com.au/vforum/archive/index.php/t-128309.html There’s others But I can’t find them at the moment. Yes I usually fish up the Mud, Green sort of way. Want to try something new. Yeah the old sea wasp is tough. I reinforced the back a little as it was flimsy. 50hp Yamaha 2 stroke had never let me down. I though that no reports might of been a good thing. If I’m catching fish I don’t think I would be telling everyone where. Maybe that’s why there’s not reports. I will go for a look on the weekend. Regards, Mick
  6. Hey guys. I was reading a few old articles on the Mud Island Sinkhole. Anyone tried it? I have done some research it seems bogus. I might go for a ride out there tomorrow. My boats only a Black Haines hunter Seawasp. With a 50hp Yamaha 2 stroke come say hi if you see me. Just want to know whether it is worth my time. Otherwise I will go over to a few spots off Bribie I know off. Regards, Mick
  7. Well I am not really targeting the place. Just a quick stop over. I suppose it wouldn’t really be fair saying it doesn’t produce. Longest time i have spent there is 2 hours I got one 45cm Flatty in the swing mooring area. About 2 metres of water. I am usually using fresh squid of a mate who loves squid fishing or pillies. 20 pound line, usually a last chance at a fish before the ramp. Usually around 30 minutes at around 9pm. Never tired dusk or dawn. I started the thread to see if it is worth spending a day down there. If you guys reckon you have got some nice stuff in the area I would use whiting heads as I do in my spot Xs. When I am fishing I am only really targeting snapper or reef species. By Cleveland point I mean on the ridges to the north. PS a mate reckons Ormiston Reef has some nice coral and drop offs in it. Sound interesting. Thanks for your responses. Regards, Mick
  8. Great work mate. I gotta get a boat that’s suitable for offshore!
  9. Hey everyone. I am new to these forums but am hardly new fishing. Like a lot of us, I have been fishing since I could walk. Anyway, the other day I went for a look over to Raby bay reef. It was very very slow. One squire 15 cm which was released. Anyone had any luck on either Ormiston Reef / Raby bay reef / Cleveland point. I never seem to produce fish there. Wouldn’t of pulled 3 decent fish from Cleveland point out of the 20 years I have been fishing it. Regards, Mick
