I think his thumb is pointing up. It’s just behind the fish, so you can’t see it. And I’ve triangulated the wharf and pylons in the background against Hamish and the fish and he’s spot on. 60cms!

Well done @Allnighter. Although……….. You’re a Southsider aren’t you? If so, I’d just like to point out that the required signal for this month’s comp is a Thumbs Up. Your thumb looks distinctly sideways, not up in the photo so I don’t think it qualifies. If, however, you are actually a Northsider forget I said anything. Great fish!

Sorry but I don’t understand one word of that!

So, I decided I needed(?) a new reel. As you do. After a bit of research I decided a Shimano 19 Ocea Jigger F Custom 3000HG would fit the bill. So I did some price research and found they were basically $799 plus delivery (give or take a dollar. And in my experience everyone takes a dollar, rather than gives a dollar. Anyhow, back to the story). Then I found Discovery Japan where the same reel was supposedly $617 delivered! So, being the stupid old bastard that I am, I ordered one. And guess what? It arrived today and seems to be an actual Shimano reel! Even the correct one. Just letting everyone know in case they are in the market for reels (that’s probably restricted to Japanese made reels, but who knows?). Photos below. P.S. I’ve had the reel for nearly two hours now and the handle hasn’t even fallen off yet! P.P.S IMG_4435.mov The knife in the photo and video is sitting there waiting to be sharpened (and has been for two weeks now) on my special German made sharpening machine (which I also really needed). It is more likely to disintegrate from rust than get sharpened. And it’s stainless steel!

Gee. I think Southside are in trouble this month. Not many of them are going to have ancient photos of fish with a thumbs up in them!
