  1. Snapper ban is supposed to end in 2025. Reports from bottom of Yorke Peninsula is that whiting fishers are getting 10 snapper for every whiting. Small fish now... but HEAPS of them. I cant wait for the ban to end, they are my favourite target. Check out the area around Smokey Bay. Excellent fisjing region, BIG night skies. 30 min drive to Ceduna
  2. Check out this Sth Aust site. You will get more local knowledge, https://www.fishinsa.com.au and be prepared to bring lots! Depending on where you finally settle.... there are not huge numbers of fishing shops to visit...
  3. you know.. like that pommy pop group.. durian durian....
  4. Hey Mango, Mango italiano... hey mango...
  5. I'll have the "I won the Aust Fishing competition" sweater in blue, size XXXL please...... your the quiz-master ellicat.. keep the show on the e-road...

  7. Definitely one with a machine gun mounted on the bow..... have you seen the size of crocs up there? and even the little sharks are 10 ft long!! Oh.... and I am jealous ........ very... very.. jealous....
  8. SAw the brochure today. What intersts me is that they also appear to have a "chin strap" to keep the top of the vest tight. ONly seen this on VERY expensive ones before... I'll be there Sat morning!!
  9. Yep.. I'd lose weight... Tomatos make me vomit and cabbage gives me the 'trots'.....
  10. Global warming..??? The polar icecaps my be melting but the creeks in the Adelaide hills are turning in to glaciers....
  11. You could do it "the Australian way..." Mind you, there may be problems buying explosives over there.......
  12. Thanks for the explanations Sylva. Sounds like the various groups are run as private clubs. Do any of them get govt subsidies? if they do I'd expect they should 'serve the general public'. https://sasearescue.org.au/ https://www.coastalpatrol.org.au/ I've just read the AVCG website... and they infer SA boaties must be a paid up member of their "Marine Assist" offering in order to get service!! First I've heard of it....
  13. I was warned about washing my hands whilst on an estury charter in FNQ some years ago. When I asked "crocodiles?".. I got the reply... "No... bull sharks..."
  14. That is exactly what has happened in SA... and SA Govt has developed a VHF radio network that essentially offers 24/365 coverage "SA Coast Radio". THe Various regional VMR groups serve "their patch" but it can be monitored at numerous points. As a further benefit all groups are being skilled to similar levels.
  15. Interesting comment and should be explained further. In Sth Aust, all VMR groups (Sea Rescue groups, AVCG, SES groups, Coastal Patrol etc) will provide support to anyone - regardless !
  16. Most 'lakes' along that coast are only wet after heavy rain. I've never heard of fish/fishing in them. Beaches along that part of the coast are open to the southern ocean... next stop south = antarctica, From memory they are fairly steep, no real bars/gutters but that will depend on weather/swells etc. I suggest you join Fishinsa.com.au (free) - there are a few regular contributors that live down that way
  17. I trust Mangrove Jack is a special fish and not an STD......
