Kat reacted to Allnighter in Suburbs of Origin 2024 Monthly Competition
Thanks Greg,
If it was the same fish it's shite outta luck this time because we kept this one as it was a bay pb for the person i took out with me who is terminally ill. We used to fish together a long time ago and it was great to see the smile on his face

Kat reacted to AnnaH in Amity Point Stradbroke Island QLD
I am camping at Amity Point Stradbroke Island from April 5 to April 12 this year, with my mad-for-fishing 12-year-old son. We haven’t fished north of Victoria before, and were wondering where are the best spots to fish at Amity point, what fish should we be targeting, and any suggestions on bait and gear would be much appreciated!

As Brett said - you may have some Southsliders landing some fish from your boat in March!

Kat reacted to tiotony in fishing goals for 2024
Actually on a butterflied herring, meant to be less attractive to live mullet eating sharks!

Not a goal but rather a hope, that being less sharks at my local.
One definite goal, get a 70-80 barra to take home. They are all way over that at the moment, which go back. Sunday's effort between feeding sharks:

Metery, my goal is to get my 1st meter Barra.
It's been elusive for so many years, definitely not from lack of trying, it's not like we're not catching them, just struggling to break that meter mark.

Hmmm,
I haven't fished 50 times yet, but I am up to 14, so on target. Have got some macks that weren't too bad, but I'd like to get better. I'm waiting for winter to try to jag a big snapper on plastic.
But, with all that said, I am still behind you. Have you put your gear away until next year ? haha

I’ve already achieved my goal. How are the rest of you going?

Kat reacted to Bretto77 in Couldn't quite get there
Thanks Hamish. It had it's frustrations but that ultimately meant opportunity for learning. Keep gathering your data and use the tools available now to interpret it. I wish I had done that better👍

The "vermin" is consideration for a whole other discussion at some stage. I think a conversation about changes noticed in systems is warranted and worthwhile.
It was good to get a feed for the effort. Always great to get pipped at the post by @Kat 😜

Yes Steve it's the protein for quite a few meals for us. You get the learning experience that you can't get if you buy that protein from a shop also. Was a good day overall.

You have to be happy with that bag in those conditions @Bretto77 and @Kat

Great work Brett and Kat, looks like an enjoyable session despite the catties.

That's a great feed, considering the conditions and vermin numbers. Quality too.

Kat got a reaction from Bretto77 in Testing morning at NPD
Ha ha. I was thinking homemade. Either way anything with lots of butter and jam is good.

Great fishing trip. The wind is fierce at the moment. Was hoping to see a pic of the Jam Drops 🤣

Kat reacted to Neil Stratford in Testing morning at NPD
Ray , Mark and I braved some very inordinate conditions at NPD this morning . With 25 knots of South Easterly wind accompanied with squally showers strongly apparent, the possibly of donuting was high on all our minds as we pushed our way down the dam.The previous ritual of a serving of chocolate donuts each was employed as per my previous trip with Ray , and again the donut was adverted. It was giant fork tailed catfish after fork tailed catfish with the odd bass thrown in just to keep us interested for the first few hours Something special was required to break us out of this ground hog day trip. I opened my lunch box , and low and behold my darling wife had packed us a bag of Jam Drops . These little treats proved to make the day turn from ok to extra special event. Believe it or not we then proceeded to pull 14 really nice yellowbelly plus a few more bass off one snag in a few short minutes . It was carnage till a big squall came through and we called it for the morning.

Kat reacted to tugger in 2023 new boat
Got my new boat last year after 20 years owning my last tinnie. So I talked the wife into an upgrade and bought a 651 Mclay hardtop.
I got straight into getting some good mojo for the boat with a few trips offshore brisvegas and a trip out on the bunker group up north.
I very happy with it so far and here is a few pictures now we can load them up again on AFO.

You’re welcome to come out sometime and have a muck around with it. And all the other electronic wizardry that also baffles me. lol.
