  1. Thanks Drop Bear you're a legend. I reckon I'll check out the Manly area as that is close by to me, and go from there. I did do a bit of research into the rules and I am aware of the eat it where to find it legislation, thanks for the heads up though!
  2. Would anyone know of any places around the Redlands and Brisbane area where low tides provide access to catching/shucking fresh oysters? Don't currently have a boat so only looking for places to access by foot. I was thinking of walking out to King Island at Wellington Point, but before I do, are there any other obvious places? Cheers James
  3. Hey mate, yep same here, 200lb I just do 3 loops. It just feels rough after the knot slides down to tighten
  4. It’s a leader that follows to a wire trace for large bull sharks. Thanks for the advice, I’ll check out those knots
  5. Hi all, I’ve got 200lb mono that I’m tying to a swivel using a uni knot. The issue is that it seems like no matter how many times I try and do it, even with a ton of lubrication (saliva), when I go to tighten the knot, as the knot slides down to the swivel, the small part of the line that the knot passes over becomes rough and looks slightly abraded. I’m able to seal the knot fine, it’s just that the end of the line feels rough, compared to the rest that’s smooth. Will this effect the strength of the line at all? cheers
  6. Thanks for that explanation mate. Definitely seems the overhead is the go for the larger specimens
  7. Don’t think it would be too hard mate, just pull it up to the boat, reach down and pull the hook out of its mouth (with a glove on of course), all the while getting some photos. hahaha nah in all seriousness I think a 3m specimen would be scary. Been watching the Mad Mullet channel on YouTube and have gotten a lot of pointers from them. I think anything over 2m would require pulling up to the bank and dealing with it on land; the safest option.
  8. Thanks for the help mate, I think I’ll go for the overhead
  9. Sorry should have mentioned, I’ll be fishing from my boat, just in the river
  10. Planning on getting a relatively cheap setup for 1.5-3m bull sharks. Never owning an overhead setup (other than bait caster), I enjoy the experience of using a spin reel, but I think I might be in over my head. Between the TLD25 and the Penn 950, would the TLD the smarter option? I was thinking for line, 80lb braid main line to 150lb mono to a wire trace. Was snapped off this morning with my 5000 reel with 30lb braid to 60lb wire trace. Fought for 40 minutes and was in no control at any point. Time to step it up. Thanks for the help!
  11. Alrighty, so I ended up going last night. Launched the tinny at the small boat ramp at 5:30pm and tried to cast for prawns. Sadly the abundance of prawns that was out a few nights ago just weren’t there so I ended up with a nice bucket of poddy mullet. I started off fishing about 30m to the right of the boat ramp (Just across, past the rowing pontoon) and got some great smashes of the baits, but no hook ups. After an hour and a half I was keen to try the creek mouth and fish the drop offs. Luck was not on my side last night, and my battery that runs the sounder and lights must have dropped a cell, cos as soon as the engine was turned off, all electrical power was gone . Because of this I could not determine where the drops exactly were, and the lack of light made things a little dangerous so after half an hour I pulled back up the creek to where the Mercedes dealership is, away from traffic. Once again got a few good bites, but to no avail. So to sum up, nothing. Kind of regret moving from the first place as it would have only been a matter of time before a hook up. I think without a doubt, if I had managed to get some live prawns, there would have been some more action. Anyway, I’ll try and make it out there in the up coming weeks, and if there is anything worth reporting, I’ll let you know. Thanks for all the help
  12. Awesome, thanks for the help Jon!
  13. Awesome mate. I reckon I’ll drop some lines there initially and see how I go with the live prawns. Thanks for the help
  14. Wow thanks mate, appreciate the time you put into that. I’ll check them out!!
