  5. I thought they are finally coming, schooling up the Brisbane River in large numbers, scorching river bottom for prawns and herring. So I waited for them every time the tide changes at my local pontoon. After about thirty offering of big prawns and herrings, I finally saw the glory - a golden baby thready of about 50cms. Not much fight at all on my boat rod coupled with a 4000 reel. But the beauty just catch your eyes immediately. Took the photos and send it back. They are really beautiful for eyes but unfortunately my phone can't catch it at night. Enjoy!
  6. Great report and guess you are happy about the jew fish caught. Just have a question about your sedona 6000. Do you think it is an overkill for jew and thread in rivers? Thinking about getting a 6000 or 8000 from bcf as they are on sale at the moment. Thanks!
  7. Thanks Hamish for such a great report. Have you got any insight on the best time for fishing for thready in Brisbane River considering your extensive experiences? Have you done any statistics research on your report? Cheers
  8. Is this paternoster setup more suitable for fishing on boat? Do it work effectively on land based as well? Cheers!
  9. Sorry to highjack the topic, Just wondering if crab is used as bait, would you cut it or keep it alive, generally speaking? Keen on catching some crab now.
  10. Happy fish and fisherman, win win!!
  11. I quite like drawstring too. The only drawback is it get snagged more often. However you don't have to cast as many as other net to collect baits.
  12. That's quite true. I found the juvenile one under rocks and get bites very quickly. However you need very small hooks.
  13. While bait fish was no where to find, I saw this little blue creature waving to me. Hard to say no so I grab a handful and sent them out. They got picked quickly but did not catch anything. I wonder if they are good bait? VID_20230412_192935296.mp4
  14. Thanks rebel, did you fish on a boat?
  15. If you post before you take boat out every time, you are going to get quite a few buddies, good and bad! A lot of us don't have boat but want to find a buddy with boat too! Good luck
  16. Hi Mzaakir, there are lots of beach in Redcliffe and manly that produce fish. It is hard to keep them secret. A website that is helpful in finding the best spot is here: https://webapp.navionics.com/?lang=en#boating@6&key=zrpfDocee\ You look for deep holes /water channel. Good luck!
  17. Thanks for the information. The website tells me there is unlimited possibilities in sup fishing if I want to invest money and time to refine the art! I like it they put an outboard motor on a sup!! the only thing to complain about is the weight.they seem heavy (min 15kg).
  18. Has anyone tried this JW carbon budget rod for soft plastics? I had the 3-6kg version and quite like it, but I don't have this. 19. This morning was very quiet at scott point, don't know why. But i was using dead bait which was not touched. I was fishing from 5am till 7am on water and didn't feel much bite. I will post a photo next time i get out.
  20. After taking the sup out specifically for fishing at redcliffe this morning, I am so Glad to report back you definitely can use sup for fishing. I was in the water for 2 hours with breezy wind. The sup got pushed and moved by wave, but not too much. It is pretty stable as i was sitting on it instead of standing. I have no problems doing things what i usually do in a kayak. But indeed you can't carry as many gears as in kayak. It is a very relaxed session as i can lie down or stand up if i felt tired or bored. I also used kayak paddle and it feels much like a kayak. The best thing is it is so easy to transport and i am very happy now.
  21. Great day! What tide did you fish?
