I got three in one session landbased first time I’d ever been there. There’s definitely still a decent amount of Barra and threadies in the river. I recommend sounding around structure on last half of run out tide, super early mornings before sunrise worked well for me. Different parts of the heat they move to certain areas in a system. This time of year the Barra fishing can be quiet, but a brilliant time for big threadfin when I fished it two years ago

Mate Rockhampton is probably the most underrated Barra fishing place in Queensland. So many good fish in the city reaches. Happy to pass on more info if required

Hey guys. Firstly I’d like to thank everyone for welcoming me to this group. Hopefully I’ll get to catch up with you all at some stage. Anyway today I Decided to bite the bullet and grab a couple of rods that a friend of mine was selling that have never been used, as well as a bunch of old school lures that I used to love using in my youth. Very pleased so far with the actions of the two rods, and am looking forward to giving the lures a solid workout in the next few weeks. Thought I’d share a few pics. Tight lines

Abu Promax 30 - very disappointed.

I’m just going by my experience mate. I took two new saltiga reels out to wreck reef and neither lasted the trip. After a discussion with a few sales reps from daiwa I was told that there are teething problems with with series that they are currently working on. Don’t get me wrong I love my satigas, just was disappointed with these flaws. -

The new model saltigas aren’t really up to scratch in my eyes mate. Numerous complaints about drags seizing and broken main gears and pinions. The older model expeditions etc were far more sturdy and reliable. I bought three of the new model saltiga steels, and sold them all after 3 months. You may find they suit you though -
Hey guys. Decided to walk down the road from home yesterday during a spell in the weather. Not really knowing the area I had a quick scout around over a shallow sandbank looking for any signs of bait. Instantly I found a massive school of hardiheads, which were clearly being harassed by something below as they were skittering everywhere . I tied on a frost white 60mm double clutch on my millerod grubfreak and daiwa exist 2004, and for the next hour or so it was nearly a fish a cast. Mainly just flathead around the 50-60cm mark, and a few bream. Towards the end of the session I tied on a MMD splash prawn and caught a few average bream on it too. Was a nice way to spend an hour, and a great way to open my account in my new home Brisbane .

Has Anyone Used Wft Gliss Line
Newbie to Brisbane replied to Brodie_S's topic in Tackle, Rods and Reels
If you want some really good braid that never gets wind knots, is ultra thin for its diameter, and casts superbly. Try the Varivas light game PE. I use it on basically all my bream outfits and I love the stuff. The 0.4PE and 0.6 PE Is strong and as thin as hair -
Although a newbie I’d like to enter please

I bought it originally for Barra mate. down here in Brisbane I’ve heard you need to pull fish from structure quite quickly (fishing the port) ?

They are from Europe. Not readily available in Australia mate. Very few people have these plastics. Ultra realistic
