  1. Hello everyone, I have just gotten permission to purchase a small tinny for putting around Cairns. I don't intend on going much under 12 feet. I will also probably need a 6hp as well. Should I just go and get a 15hp or will a 6hp be enough for 3 people and gear? I won't be allowed to go by myself yet so there is not much point of a 6hp besides the price. I am not too impressed on the speeds I have seen with a 6hp but there is little I can do about it. Once you have been up to speeds of 53 knots, you don't want to go much slower! Thanks and tight lines.
  2. Hi All New to the forum. Have been reading your advice and general knowledge over the past week. Great community. just after some wisdom. I have a 4m tinny with a 15 on the back. I am looking to expand out of the estuaries and rivers and try some well known points. I’m just not sure if I am being unwise in my boat. Areas such as mud, green and peel island seem interesting. Love to hit the Macks, tuna, snapper etc... Will my boat be ok with good weather conditions? How about the measured mile? .... is the pushing it too far? Any advice is welcomed. Cheers Cam
  3. Hey guys, I was wondering if there was a way or if I could beef up the transom of my tinny. It’s a savage 3.3m (11ft) but the builders plate says it can only take 12hp? Really weird that it says this as I know 3m tinnys that can still take 15? If so, I’d only be looking to bump it up to a 15hp so not much more in terms of weight of the outboard. Would it be safe? cheers.

  5. 'Could' be a good project boat for someone, pending the condition of the hull. The trailer would also obviously need to be inspected. https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/paradise-point/tinnies-dinghies/tinny-4m-on-trailer-cheap-aluminium-boat/1213600302?utm_source=criteo&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=LF4-tinny_dinghy&utm_content=163436_18420
