  1. Hi All, I've just signed up and keen to read through the many threads on here to improve my fishing. I don't have a boat - yet, but just started kayak fishing in Tingalpa Creek without much success. Hope to do more land based fishing alongside the foreshores of Moreton Bay. Cheers Bob
  2. My brother took me out in his boat this morning for a soft plastic session off Wellington Point. The morning didn’t start off well , with a bit of fine drizzly rain still happening. Got to the destination in about 3 minutes , and I scored 2 squire in two casts. After that rush of blood , things slowed considerably . We ended up coming in at 10am . Final Tally was 4 squire , 1 Grassy , 2 Flathead , 1 gold spot cod and a 600mm Barracuda . After all that rain ,the water was surprisingly clear . regards Neil
  3. Went out in my brothers boat this morning . Put his boat in the water just after sunrise at 5.15am this morning and we were chucking plastics 2 minutes later. We had a nice feed each by 9.30 am and it was getting quite warm so headed back in on top of the tide and before any wind got up. Not a lot of bait or fish showing on the sounder but the Fish bit consistently all morning .Put a dozen tags in a mixed bag of undersized squire , grassys and bream , kept 6 Squire and 4 Grassys for a feed between us. Fish , salad and chips for dinner tonite. Regards Neil
  4. Went for a very quick flick with soft plastics this morning just off the leads off Wellington Point. Unfortunately I think the fan was left on all night and wind was definitely there at 5.30am blowing a solid 15knots from the ESE with a bit a wave action happening so conditions weren’t all that good . Fortunately ,the fish were on the bite from the very first cast.and ended up tagging 2 Squire , 2 bream,3 grasses , 1 Gold Spot Cod and a Flathead and brought home 3 Grassies , 2 squire and a very nice Sole for a feed tonight. There were a lot of squalls going over Moreton and Stradbroke all morning which just kept whipping up the wind so put my tail between my legs and called it quits at 9am . Regards BeastMaster
  5. G'day everyone, thinking of trying Wellington point soon but never fished there before. I'm really big on live bait fishing and was wondering if there's much that hangs around under the pier. Should I use live bait jigs or a net and what bait have people been getting. Also, what fish other than bream, Whiting, flathead have been getting caught recently. What baits and techniques have people had most luck with in the past. All replies will very much appreciated. Cheers Joseph.
  6. Legends I planned a solo yak trip for this morning and had a wello time. i awoke at 3am for the 40min drive to my favourite spot Wellington Point. The plan was to be on the water by 430am and ready to drop just before sunrise. I arrived at the ramp in the pitch of darkness with only a couple trailers in the car park. The wind was a little fresh and the water a bit lumpy but nonetheless I ventured out. 5mins into my paddle I took on a wave and was drenched! Maybe this wasn’t such a good idea anywho I trudged on as it wasn’t that bad and I filled my zero harm guidelines. Life best on white light on head lamp on and flashing red light on. I arrived at the drop off and made it to the 6-7m mark and dropped my baits. One floating the other a dropper. Straight away the dropper was getting hit....and I missed it! Quickly baited my fresh squid from mr bait and again got hit this time...I’m on! Pulled in my first ever grassy just shy of 30. dropped again and wamo! On again this time a pinky just under 30. I thought here we go this is the day I’m going to land my first legal snapper! oh how wrong I was. I spent the next 5 hours Soaking baits with little success just a tiny pinky a few bites and of course the obligatory grinner! oh well great morning spent on the water the wind died down and so too did the waves by sunrise so a safe and enjoyable trip. mr snapper if your out their mark my words.....I will catch you when I least expect it. Leo
  7. Well just found my favourite kayak fishing spot! Wello wello wello it is a great spot on a perfect morning, let’s put it this way....I won’t be fishing along Redcliffe any longer. launched the yak at 530am headed through the markers to the drop off, took a left at albakerky and shortly after I was netting my first squire measuring 29 I squealed like a school boy as this was my first I’ve landed in a yak! I started drifting right along the drop off and was getting hits but no luck until a two foot grinner took the bait. By this time my squid I caught a couple weeks ago had defrosted and I swiftly chopped her up. Fresh is best! I got hammered by something big! Fought for a minute and the snapped on the reef! This time I yelled like a cray Neanderthal! Now I was far right heading towards the mangroves and got smashed again and reefed but this tim managed to get him out only to see another 29 squire foul hooked. For the next hour I kept getting hit the reefed until I got excited but this time I pulled up a 40ish baby shark. Soon after landed another squire at 27 and started paddling back towards the ramp. I had another drop and a flat head measuring 42 was landed. Went quiet at around 1030 so called it a day. Had a great time at wello sand will definitely be going back!!
