Hello everyone, Once Yarrabah opens up, I will be trying my luck on it's headlands. I was just wanting some advice. Does anyone know of landbased barra, fingermark, jacks etc. been caught of False Cape or near it? I have seen some films fishing there but nothing but grunter and little fish. I will be throwing soft plastics and bait fishing. I cannot cast net off the rocks but will be throwing the net near the Yarrabah boat ramp. Should I be throwing my baits and lures as far as possible or just put them near the rocks. I do know for a fact that a headland right next to false cape (Kings Point) is a gun fingermark spot. This can only be accessed by boat though. Thank you for all your help.
hello! i’m hoping this is the best forum for my query my parents used to harvest tiny freshwater shrimp in the creeks around colleges crossing in SEQ from time to time to feed their native fish tank. two questions: are there any waterways in the Cairns / Mareeba / Atherton area where similar shrimp can be found if yes, tips on locations? is it legal to take some?
Go Fish is doing a bit of research for the tourism operators in North Queensland. When you think of fishing in Cairns and the north, what's the first thing you think of? Mackerel? Barra? Coral Trout? Ideally what sort of accomodation do you stay in? Does the distance to the Cape or the Gulf hinder your decision? Any other opinions about fishing in Far North Queensland? Thanks! Go Fish
