  1. Hi All I'm Katrina and haven't fished since I was about 20 back in NZ - 20 something years ago. Back then it was fishing with the boys and all I learned was one knot and how to cast. I loved it so much I decided it was time to take it seriously and learn the sport. I purchased my gear last week and have been obsessed ever since. I have been watching YouTube clips and reading fishing knot books. There is so much to know. I am hoping other members may be able to share knowledge, tips and maybe even offer to buddy up for a trip or two occasionally. I would especially like tips on snags (how to avoid them), cleaning gear, and threading bait. I am land based around the GC but also have family on an Island in Moreton Bay with a boat so intend on exploring the fishing there too. I caught a Bream on my second trip (1st fish caught in Aussie)! Also scaled, gutted and filleted it myself (also a first)! Would love to hear from anyone with good land based spots for beginners? Cheers Kat

    Fishing Kayaks

Not sure if this ad is showing up at the top of the AFO page for everyone or if it is targeted, but it claims to be selling fishing kayaks for less than half price. Although, not sure why I’d be targeted with kayak ads as I certainly don’t want one. Too much work for me. Anyway just putting it up here in case someone is interested. https://www.kayaks2fish.com/brisbane/3m-nextgen-10-kayak/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI-cORlouO6wIViR9gCh1HqgM0EAEYASAAEgIpJfD_BwE cheers Greg
  3. Jeez I hate doing these things haha Newbie (ish) from Burpengary, generally try and get out I think the bay or around Bribie but always hunting new spots landalbased or in my cruise craft 166 (which is needing some work damn soon) Targetting whatever I can find generally, but the bigger the fight the better
  4. Hi Guys, I am from India and going to move to Adelaide soon. I am an IT guy. I really liked Australian's friendliness and their attitude, media shows wrong picture I guess, I did not see any kind of racism towards me, and people were very helpful and welcoming, police was nice when talking to me during the immigration checks , already loving this country. Ohh and I am new to fishing. Caught a lot of Red mullet at Norlunga jetty using worm as bait.
  5. Hi everyone. Just joined up after reading a lot on the site for a while. I fish the estuaries with soft plastics, hard bodies and surface lure and am busy learning how to get better at it! Mainly targeting flathead, whiting and bream. Most of teh time I hit the Pumicestone Passage and Maroochy River. Also attempting to do a bit of inshore fishing from my kayak on calmer days.
