  1. Heading out to do some fishing down there tomorrow. I've had no luck at Wellington point Jetty or the canal mouths at Birkdale. Anybody know of any good spots to hit up that don't require a king tide to fish in besides the respective Jetties? Cheers.
  2. Anybody know any good spots? I've tried the Tingalpa creek fishing platform a few times with no luck, same with Wellow point jetty. I was thinking about scoping out the Raby bay and cleveland Canals, but never see anybody fishing off any of the rock walls anymore so I'm not even sure if it's permitted. Have read you can catch some cod, perch and flathead though. Cheers
  3. Hello guys, I was just wondering, why don't I see people eating the giant river prawn - Macrobrachium rosenbergii - in Australia? I mean, it's a delicacy in the East Asia region, but why aren't people in Australia eating them. The most common prawn I see people eating is the tiger prawn, why? Does it taste better?? Thank you if you take the time to answer, but I am just down right curious as to why people don't eat the as much and only eat the tiger prawns. *Please note that I do know there are still people eating them, just not a popular option. And I want to know why.*

  5. Hi All, New to the forum and hoping I can get some advise please. I have a leave pass from the missus to go on a solo trip. I am trying to plan a fishing trip in the first 2.5 weeks in August from Vic to either Northern NSW or Southern Queensland. I have a small 3mtr tinnie and wanting to fish some estuaries. Hoping to catch Jacks, Bass, Bream or something decent on light line. Happy to travel as far as Rocky if needed, however prefer to try my luck from Yamba to Sunshine Coast. Also ideally, looking to switch it up from Estuary to Rock or Beach. Hopefully you can help
  6. Hi everyone im wanting to book a holiday house for Easter next year for 4 adults and 3 older kids plus 2 small dogs. We love fishing for things like flathead, bream, whiting etc and I was wondering if anyone had any good suggestions for places to try or if you’ve stayed in great accommodation yourself and can recommend it. I’m just outside of Brisbane so anywhere up to 4 or 5 hours north or south of Brissy would be fine. We have stayed at Evans Head before and loved it but they are pretty booked out already. Thanks guys.

  8. hello! i’m hoping this is the best forum for my query my parents used to harvest tiny freshwater shrimp in the creeks around colleges crossing in SEQ from time to time to feed their native fish tank. two questions: are there any waterways in the Cairns / Mareeba / Atherton area where similar shrimp can be found if yes, tips on locations? is it legal to take some?
