  1. Hi all Yesterday arvo I decided I would go for a shark session and normal session at the local park. I rigged up the rods and got to bed early, so I could wake up early. Well, that didn't work one bit and I eneded up still waking up at 6:15AM. I got to the park with my lines in at half past and then decided I would leave at about 10:00AM. When I got there, I started on the jetty. The tide was roaring through, and I chucked my shark line out with eel that was caught in Brisbane River Session #13. The lines were baited with prawn I caught in the cast net yesterday. I initially had nothing, and it stayed very quite for the whole time I fished on the jetty. Change of rig, different casts, rebaits - nothing. I eventually packed up the gear and moved back onto the pier, and put my lines in there. It took about 20 minutes for a bite, and when I finally struck and hook upped I knew it was tiny. After a decent fight, which almost led to me getting stuck into the mangroves or around a pylon, up came a tiny catfish. I took a photo and threw it back, off it kicked - The only thing stopping me from a donut After that, which occurred about 1 and a half hours into the trip (8;00AM) I kept fishing. In the half an hour I was sitting down, and talked to a couple of people (social distancing was applied ) and I just said I caught a small catfish. This may have been because it was near the tide change, which is about at 8:50AM. It was still a considerable time though, and I find fishing the channel made between the jetty and the bank works best on rising tides. As well as this about 8:45AM my shark line went off. I went over hoping I was on and to my dismay it had dropped it. I had the drag set, which in my opinion was a mistake, and then it came back again. This time, it just gave a yank and then was gone. Oh well, I was disappointed but I let it go . For the rest off the day, well morning, there was not much happening. A far smaller strike on the retrieve on the shark line, a couple small missed hits and one good hit which spat the hook. This has been one of my worst days to date actually, but it is better than staying home. My mate came down as well and I caught nothing in the cast net due to the big tide. I think that next time we will go flicking plastics at Nudgee as well as put some pots in. Hopefully we can get a feed of crabs, whiting/flatties/bream and it will be an exploratory mission as we've never been on the kayak there. Here are the statistics of the trip for anyone's reference - Stats of trip: Tide: Low 2:12AM, High 8:30AM, Next low 3:20PM - I fished the run in, change and run out Moon Phase: Waxing Gibbous - first phase after quarter moon, about half moon Time fished: 6:30Am-10Am Fish caught: Catfish x 1 Bait caught: - Bait used: Prawns, eel Tackle used: 650 Penn reel, 30lb braid, 30lb leader, 80lb 20 inch wire trace, 6/o circle hook, Rogue Fire point rod, size 6 sinker, size 1000 Sienna and 2500 Nasci, Shimano, 14lb braid, 20lb leader, 4/o hooks, size 2 sinkers Overall Success: 40% - A nice morning out Alright, I hope you enjoyed the report. It's a lot shorter than most as well, simply due to the fact it was so quiet. I hope you all stay well. Cheers Hamish
