  1. What kind of lures will the tilapia take at Rochedale?
Otherwise the only plastic small enough for them to readily attack are Damiki Bings

Im going to try some of the small creature plastics intended for trout next time, like the powerbait nymphs.

  2. Hey all just dragging up an old post but was just wondering if many people still fish here for bass tried once last season but didnt do any good Im really just after a good report or two to get my confidence up to give this place abit more attention.

Ive been dredging google for info and reports but they are all old and pre 2011 flood info.

I havent fished it, but there is no reason for fish not to still be there. All you can do it give it another crack.

  3. Just wondering if those that have caught these fish before could shed some light on how jewfish fight?

Fishing at harries on Sunday with every other man and their dog had these experiences.

Live baits would go mental for a few seconds then nothing, live bait gone. No bite at all like a snapper would, we just watched the rod tip go crazy for a few seconds then nothing.

The one I am most interested in was a big run I had. It was a flesh bait right on the bottom, really fast run, similar to when a mackerel takes it's first run. Got a bit of line back on it, and it ran again, unfortunately up the front and wrapped itselt around our anchor rope nearly cutting through the thing. Snapped itself off in the process. Wasn't fishing overly light either with 30lb braid on the daiwa saltist 6500, drag was pretty firm and this thing was stripping line like no tomorrow. Could it have been a shark maybe?

    Would appreciate anyone's thoughts.

May have been a big jewie. The take is almost like a dead weight at first, you just feel the line to tight, then they take off. 2-3 big runs and thats them spent most of the time in my experience. Could have been anything though.

  4. Product: Pontoon 21 CrackJack

    Type: Hardbody Crank Bait

    Price: $17-$20

    Specs: Available in 38mm, 48mm and 58mm

    Action: Suspending, Tight swimming action

    Quality: A1

Experience: By far my favourite hardbody lure, Great all rounder, especially for estuary and bay fishing. Can be cranked, Slow Rolled, twitched all with great results. Well weighted for casting allowing long casting distances on light gear. I have found the standard hooks acceptable and quality of the workmanship A1. Have caught many species including Bream, Bass, Golden Perch, Spangled Perch, Squire, flathead, trevally and even Flounder. Great lure!
