More to Boating in 2010!There is More to the Boating Lifestyle Than Just Boats…The Darwin Boat Show is owned and managed by the BIANT and is the showcase for the marine industry in NT and host to an array of exciting features and exhibits ranging from boats and accessories to outdoor leisure-gear. Following the success of the 2009 event, the 2010 Show is set to even more fully represent the whole of the NT boating lifestyle.NT ‘locals’ love their boating and their boat show, so the event attracts an attendance of around 10,000 over two days and to make the visitor experience extra special, the 2010 Show will be jam packed with features and activities for all members of the family and highlighting the various aspects of a boating lifestyle. So this is not a show to be missed.Darwin is arguably the fastest growing capital city in Australia in size and population, with a burgeoning economy and an enviable outdoor lifestyle and tropical climate. This means that there is an ever increasing new population that is keen to join this great boating lifestyle, but many of whom have little knowledge of boating in the top end, so the boat show offers a great opportunity for these new Territorians to learn more about the facts and benefits of NT fishing and boating, and also most importantly, the safety aspects. The Darwin Convention Centre is world class and located on the sheltered harbor waterfront central to the stunning new Darwin Waterfront precinct, and it presents a perfect venue for the Boat Show offering air-conditioned comfort for visitors, elegant corporate display areas, catering and presentation rooms, high tech services for exhibitors, extensive outdoor areas all with fantastic water views, and the capacity for on-water demonstrations and displays to add a further vital dimension to the event. With the event timed on the cusp of the tourist season when Darwin’s weather is at its best, we anticipate increased demand which will in turn increase the size, presence and presentation of the Show in 2010, and so together with the growing list of new exhibitor registrations broadening the exhibits, we have every reason to expect an increased visitor attendance.Boat shows nationally are experiencing an upturn in the recreational boating market following the dampening effects of the economic downturn in 2009 and with boating being the most popular leisure pastime for NT families and friends the 2010 Darwin Boat Show is expected to boom. The 2010 Darwin Boat Show will be more interactive offering visitors more of a chance to learn from the experts how to choose, handle and equip a boat and safe boating practices, and the best places to go boating and camping, great leisure options to come home to, and how to catch, prepare, cook and most importantly, enjoy, a range of NT seafood. The 2010 Show will incorporate corporate and industry functions, including the Official Opening and Official Boat Show Breakfast. These events will be attended by exhibitors, marine industry members and Corporate and Government guests, together with representatives from other States’ BIAs, major marine companies, boating and fishing clubs, and like organisations. The Darwin Boat Show will be promoted in the local, national and statewide forums via a wide network of media and web-links, and also locally within community networks. The Association is keen to bring more of a fishing focus into the Show. There was a great representation of fishing charter operators in 2009 and for this year we are seeking a broader representation of fishing tackle and accessories exhibits and a greater presence from fishing tackle and accessory manufacturers. The success of sales in the camper trailer markets in 2009 will see those exhibitors incorporated into a specialised tinnie, tackle and camping area, and enquiries to date suggest that a broader range of new exhibitors will bring depth and vibrancy to that area. The Darwin boat show is advantageously placed at the end of the annual boat show circuit meaning that it provides more interstate and international exhibitors and corporates with the opportunity to attend and to support the show. So, we encourage youto take advantage of a few days respite to recover from the hectic demands of the national boat show circuit.Scope of the Event:To maintain the integrity of the boat show, exhibits are restricted to products and services broadly associated with boating and boating activities and the NT boating lifestyle. There is considerable scope within this restriction. Any exhibits of unrelated product or special application will be judged on their merit for inclusion by the BIANT.Products displayed for sale must be new unless a special dispensation is granted after formal application to the BIANT.If you are unsure if your product or service complies, please contact theboat show manageron 0427 508075 to discuss.Applying For Exhibition SpaceThe world-class Darwin Convention Centre provides around 5000sqm of air-conditioned indoor space over two levels, and around 2500sqm for outdoor sites. There is a possibility that the show will expand further with adjacent on-water displays in accordance with demand (If you are interested in on-water display, please contact the boat show manager on 0427508075 to discuss). With limited space availability, we encourage early bookings to avoid disappointment. The Darwin Boat Show is the showcase for the marine industry in NT and offers exhibitors a choice of indoor and outdoor sites. Exhibitor rates are arguably the lowest of any major boat show in Australia.Choose from: * Indoor open space – fully carpeted * Indoor booth sites – walk-in / walk-out sites ranging from 6sqm up to around 36sqm – providing Velcro compatible walling, standard spot lights, carpet and titlefaciaboard. Charter and tour operators do very well from exposure at the Boat Show and via its associated national and statewide marketing reach. There are various opportunities for tourism operators to become involved in the boat show promotions even if seasonal demand prevents their attendance at the Show.(See‘Terms and Conditions’ on Exhibitor Only section)Visitor Hours:Friday 3 September Official Opening Ceremony (approximately 4.30pm-6.00pm)Saturday 4 September 9.30am –5.00pmSunday 5 September 9.30am – 4.00pmAccommmodationExhibitors have the opportunity to benefit from special boat show accommodation packages.
