  1. Mate, I would have no issue forking out that money as it's more than reasonable for what you get.You look at BK Charters at Goldie.Last time I went it was 80 bucks, you never stayed in same place for much time and had Alby Mangels all the time with the bloke standing shoulder length away. Not only that they were more concerned with losing tackle than catching fish.At least with being a deckie, you get a better experience in my opinion from being a deckie with a few people on site and you can have a bloody good time with those same people away from fishing too by making pretty good friends. All it takes is doing the right thing.
  2. MIck, That's just plain rotten mate.It probably reflects on that persons values in life also. It's not hard to have the courtesy to be appreciative of the opportunity a skip gives you when you deckie for them.Always offer or at the very least ask an amount. Two mates and I went out with Azza once had a rough idea what we would need to pay, took more cash along in case and at the end of the trip Azza let us know the price and we were happy to pay. I know at the end of the day it's a hell of a lot cheaper than a charter and even better than that is the fact that you don't have to stand elbow to elbow with the bloke next to you. If people don't want to offer to pitch in, then enjoy land based fishing because no one will have a deckie spot available for those sort of people.
