  1. Well, I guess that nixes the Eyre peninsula for snapper. That's okay, plenty of other species.
  2. Largely depends on where I find a house and how long it takes to settle my affairs here in the USA. My first preference is a small country town somewhere on the Eyre peninsula, something that will give me easy access to the coast for fishing and recreation during the day, while leaving me the nights to pursue my other passion, astrophotography - hence the reason I want to live in a small place, well away from the likes of Port Augusta and Port Lincoln - next to no light pollution. You kind of nailed it with the fish, as I was thinking along the lines of setting up some rods for mulloway, whiting, flathead, etc, as well as some squid. I've been away from SA for 24 years so I'm way out of touch, but I was under the impression bans had been put in place with regard to snapper? They did it here in the USA as well, putting a moratorium in place that wiped out a friend of mine who was a professional fisherman focused exclusively on snapper - he had to move to Louisiana and start all over again fishing the gulf.
  3. Thanks for that - appreciated. I'd looked for a few forums, but missed that one
  4. I'm moving back to Sth. Australia to retire after living in the USA for the last 24 years. I currently live in Florida, one of the most popular places in the country for fishing, and figured before I leave that I might as well snap up some fishing gear to bring back home as it's a fair bit cheaper here, especially on the used market. More than likely I'll buy a place somewhere on Eyre peninsula, so I can see myself doing a fair bit of beach fishing, with some occasional rock or pier fishing thrown in. I've been out of the loop for a while, so other than figuring I need a good 14' to 15' beach rod I'm not sure what to aim for here before I leave. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
